A CHINESE BRONZE ARCHAISTIC BEAKER SHAPED VASE, GU the flared square neck cast in shallow relief with lappets, the central flanged knop with taotie to each face and on flared wave lapped foot with honeycomb band, 37cm h, Qing dynasty On the widely everted rim a slight crack near the point of one of the four corners where the vase may have been dropped at some time but entirely unrestored and not cleaned or repatinated.

A RARE DERBY FLORAL ENCRUSTED VASE of blind trellis moulded design with pierced border and green rope handles, on rocky foot with gilt shells, 16cm h, c1760-65 No other example of this rare shape and size is recorded in the literature. A pair of smaller examples with covers are in the Victoria & Albert Museum. They are discussed and illustrated Rice (D G), Derby Porcelain..., 1983, pp57-201, plt 122. The shape of extraordinary complexity and in generally very well preserved condition with the odd firing crack here and there and some typical but generally light chipping of the flowers and leaves. The handles undamaged
