MO ABBARO (1935-2016); a stoneware vase, textured surface covered in green and red glaze, incised signature and date of 1990, height 18.5cm. Abbaro, also known professionally as Mo Abdalla or Mohammed Abdalla, was a London-based Sudanese potter who has been described by artist Oliver Bloom as ‘one of the world's finest ceramicists’. He taught ceramics at the Camden Arts Centre for more than two decades and had many exhibitions in London and elsewhere in the UK, as well as in the US and Sweden. He turned to writing in later life, publishing works on ceramic technique, such as Modern Ceramics: On the Interplay of Forms and Surfaces (2000). Blue Children jardiniere, 19.5 cm high: Two large chips to rim. Base has been broken, one piece glued in and other cracks with stabilising glue and another star crack to base and others. A late Victorian satinwood display cabinet, painted a classical bust, vases of flowers, scrolling acanthus leaves, floral swags, ribbon ties and bell flowers, the central bow front section having a mirrored back above a small drawer and a door, flanked by a pair of bevelled glass panels, on tapering square legs, joined by an undertier, and with block feet, 138 cm wide See front cover colour illustrationLacking some veneer, some of the bars glazing to the doors, the biggest issue is with the big bow front door which has a split in it, to the left of the vase of flowers. From a local deceased estate who was an antique dealer back in the '80's.
Seven pieces of Dresden porcelain including urn vase and cover (7058G), trumpet vase (F10903G), trumpet vase (1081), pair of candlesticks (894B), etc. CONDITION REPORT:Urn vase and cover: There does not seem to be any chips or cracks. The paint of the gold trim seems to be rubbed faint out of line. Under the cover there seems to be two tippex marks. Trumpet Vase 1: Along the bottom gold rim there is a tiny indent, across the top gold rim the paint is slightly coming away, generally clean however.Trumpet Vase 2: Generally very clean and the paint seems to be intact.Candlesticks: Both seem clean and paint semms to be intact, when you turn them upside down however there is a rattling sound from the two small holes on the base.The other two items appear clean and damage free.
