Two Chinese blue and white prunus pattern vases, late 19th century, one of typical baluster form, the other converted to an oil lamp with panels of figures against a prunus background, the latter with four character pseudo Kangxi mark. 30 cm and 29 cm respectively. CONDITION REPORT: The vase has a 3 mm wide x 5 mm long restored rim chip from which issues a very fine 1 cm hairline crack. The restoration is visible on the underside and is slightly larger measuring 6 mm across x 5 mm deep. Otherwise the vase appears to be in good decorative order. The vase converted to a lamp has an 8 cm hairline crack issuing from the metal mount through the body and on the obverse side there is a 10 cm inverted Y shape hairline crack running through the body. These cracks should be visible using the zoom facility on the website. There is a small inverted Y shape crack on the underside of the foot rim. The four character Kangxi marks are very much off centre.
A pair of Royal Copenhagen inverted tapering vases, with floral decoration against a shaded blue ground, printed, incised and inscribed marks to underside "283/63". Height 18.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: One vase has a 1 cm x 1 cm chunk broken from the rim and glued. The other vase is in good decorative order throughout.
Four Royal Bonn pottery vases, decorated with blossoming branches with butterflies or birds, factory impressed, inscribed and printed marks. Tallest 25.8 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The vase with the ribbon handles has gilt rubbing on the rim and also on the handles. The remainder of the vase appears to be in good order with no obvious faults. The sleeve vase has very minor rubbing to the rim and foot rim but is otherwise in basically good condition without any obvious faults. The vase with two narrow gilt handles has crazing within the glaze. One handle has a small crack at the bottom where it joins the vase. There is a very fine intermittent hairline crack running down the seam of one side. Other than that the enamels and gilding framing the enamels appear to be in good order. The bottle vase has gilt rubbing to the rim and minor gilt rubbing to the foot rim but is otherwise in good order with no obvious chips, cracks or signs of restoration.
A Chinese inverted baluster vase and cover, 20th century, decorated with deer by a river and monkeys beside rock work and a peach tree all underneath a pine tree canopy, with cracked ice neck, diaper shoulder, false gadroons to the base, together with a late 19th century famille verte vase and cover depicting warring figures. 23 cm and 33 cm respectively. CONDITION REPORT: The smaller of the two vases appears to be in good order throughout with no obvious chips, cracks or signs of restoration. The enamel decoration appears to be in good order with no obvious losses. On the taller of the two vases the lid has a small rim chip but is otherwise in good order. The rim of the vase has one small chip and two small glaze chips. The remainder of the vase appears to be in good order throughout with no further obvious chips, cracks or signs of restoration. The enamels all appear to be intact and in good order with no obvious losses.
Chinese blue and white wares, 18th century/19th century, comprising a pair of blue and white vases decorated with an exotic bird on peony and rock work, four character pseudo Kangxi mark to the bottom, two sleeve vases, an 18th century tankard, a pedestal dish, a tea bowl and an export blue and white plate (8). CONDITION REPORT: The tankard has a very fine 8 cm hairline crack otherwise it appears to be in good order with no further obvious faults. The small pedestal dish has small rim chips. There is a Y shape firing crack on the interior of the base otherwise there are no further obvious faults visible. The tea bowl has a rim chip from which issues a 1 cm hairline crack. There are two very fine 4 mm hairline cracks to the rim. The sleeve vase decorated with birds has rim chips. The sleeve vase decorated with birds in panels against a blossoming ground has a small restored rim chip. The plate has a small chip to the underside of the rim from which issues a hairline crack terminating at the foot rim. Of the pair of vases, one has a number of small black speckles in the glaze on the rim which is a firing fault, its partner vase has numerous similar speckles to the rim and also a few rim chips. Other than that the vases appear to be in good decorative order.
A Japanese ginbari cloisonne vase attributed to Ota Toshiro, late Meiji/Taisho period, of waisted form decorated with a dragon against a rich blue ground, struck mark to the underside. Height 15.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The interior of the vase has numerous large and stained hairline cracks. Just beneath the rim by the dragons claw there is a small chip from which issues numerous hairline cracks. There are small chips to the cloisonne on the base. There is the odd pinhead size piece of cloisonne missing from the body of the dragon. Looking down on the vase the top of the rim is slightly misshapen. The extent of the cracks can be seen using the zoom facility on our website.
A pair of Japanese Satsuma porcelain garlic neck vases, circa 1900, each with a floral diaper neck and shoulder heightened with gilding above the body depicting Samurai by Lake Biwa, Mount Fuji to the background, nine inscribed red character mark to underside "Dai Nippon ...". 14.5 cm high (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: One vase has a tiny 2 mm x 2 mm enamel chip on the brown ground around the garlic mouth. Other than this both appear to be in good order with no obvious further chips, cracks or signs of restoration. Both ring out nicely when lightly tapped.
A pair of Chinese crackleware blue and white vases and covers, late 19th century, decorated with opposing dragons facing a pearl all amongst clouds and between bronzed borders, pseudo four character Chengua mark. CONDITION REPORT: The vases are 35.5 cm high. One lid has a 7 cm long x 2 cm deep D shape break which has been glued. The other lid appears to be in good order with no post production faults visible. One vase has a 3 cm wide x 1 cm deep section of the rim broken and glued, otherwise it appears in good decorative order. The second vase appears to be in good decorative order with no obvious faults visible.
A silver plated oil lamp, late 19th/early 20th century, having an etched cranberry glass shade upon a reeded vase shaped body on circular foot. Height including chimney 34 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cranberry flash shade has minor surface scratches and small nibbles around each opening but is very much complete and intact. The chimney has small nibbles around the base. The silver plated body has very minor small nicks which are not instantly obvious. The circular foot has 50% of the silver plating erased. There is a base fitting over the foot of which 50% has become unfolded and can be rotated. The underside of this base has a patch of unevenness in the metal. The lamp mechanism works as it should.
A pair of Chinese Famille Verte ginger jars and covers, late 19th/early 20th century, each depicting warriors and a scholar on horseback, one with two concentric rings to the underside and with collectors inventory number 308, and a Chinese globular vase and cover, 20th century, depicting warring figures on horseback and foot and with rubber stamped four character mark to the underside. 19 cm and 21 cm respectively. CONDITION REPORT: One ginger jar cover has been broken in two and glued, it also has a small interior rim chip. The ginger jar itself appears to be in good decorative order with no obvious chips, cracks or restorations. The enamels appear to be good. The second ginger jar with two concentric blue circles on the underside also appears to be in good order with no obvious chips, cracks or restorations. The enamels appear to be in good order, the jar and cover (in the centre of the image) appear to be in good order with no obvious chips, cracks or restorations. The enamels all appear to be in good decorative order. Of note, the white ground of the lid is a paler colour to that of the body and although it fits snugly within the recess it may be a replacement.

Three Chinese blue and white vases, late 19th century, two with four character pseudo Kangxi marks and a Canton enamel teapot. Tallest 26.3 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The teapot is in good physical order however there are small losses to some enamels and the gilding is rubbed around the handle and spout. The small Meiping vase is in good order with no obvious visible faults. The Gu shape vase has a 3 cm x 1 cm patch of restoration on the top edge of the rim, otherwise it appears to be in good order. The sleeve vase has small patches of restoration to the topside and underneath side of the rim. Otherwise it is in good order with no further obvious faults.
A Japanese bronze vase, late Meiji period, with elephant mask handles and with relief cast decoration of a hawk and birds amongst branches above a pierced base cast with peony and scrolls. Height 21.7 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This vase is missing its cover. There is slight movement in one handle but it remains fixed to the body. The patination throughout is consistent and uniform. There appear to be no obvious losses or repairs. There are no obvious large scratches of note. Overall in good order. The base interior is decorated with leafy fronds. Overall in good decorative order.
A Chinese blue and white onion shaped vase, late 19th century, decorated with prunus against a cracked ice ground. Height 30.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This vase is in good order throughout with no signs of any obvious chips, cracks or restorations. There are some small patches where the cobalt blue has burned through the glaze. There is also a small line in the body which has been produced during manufacture. Any faults with the vase are manufacturing faults, there are no post production faults visible.
A Japanese cloisonne vase, circa 1900, decorated with two Manchurian cranes in flight above blossoming flowers against a mirror black ground. Height 36.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There are some fine cracks to the interior of the rim. There is a fingernail size piece of enamel missing to the rear of the lower bird from which there is a 5 cm diameter circle of hairline cracks. On the right hand side of the body there are fine hairline cracks of +/- 6 cm in length and horizontal cracks issuing from this of 1 cm in length.
