John B. Jones (Framingham, Massachusetts, 1782 - 1854)American silver vase. Boston. Marked "J. B. Jones & Co."; "Boston" and "Pure Silver Coin".There is an engraved dedication: "Martha Fredick to her grandson Titus Salter Fredick. July 4. 1834"9,5 x 12 x 9 cm. Weight: 145 g.This vase is from the period in which John B. Jones created the company J. B. Jones & Co with another partner, which was active between 1833 and 1834.There is a milk jug with the same mark and from the same period kept in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, under the inventory number: RES.34.3.There is also a vase from the same period kept at the Massachusetts Historical Society.Jones’ company prospered, and despite going through various changes of partner, he continued to build a reputation as one of the two or three most prestigious silversmiths in Boston. KWAN WO (Canton or Hong Kong); a Chinese silver vase with shaped rim and embossed tapering central column decorated with dragons, above a similarly decorated spreading circular foot, height 20cm, approx. 5.54ozt/172g.Additional InformationThe stem is screw attached to the base, with a rather crude washer system to the underside and a tiny little bit of old solder repair above the stem. General surface dents and light tarnishing throughout, with a small crease to the body.

The vase itself has very minor rubbing to the gilding, but overall is presented well.
A pair of late 18th century miniature Sèvres porcelain campana urns with gilt metal rim and foot, each painted with a Cupid to the front vignette, the reverse with birds, with gilt-heightened detail throughout, painted marks to base, height 7.75cm (2).Provenance: The contents of a Cheshire Country House.Additional InformationThe vase with the Cupid painting has got a completely restored socle base, also restoration to the body above this and to one of the gilt handles. The second vase has restoration to one of the gilt handles and both have detritus underneath the metal upper rim.
A large pair of 18th century Chelsea porcelain vases of baluster form, each painted with exotic birds and with applied floral detail, height 47cm (2).Provenance: The contents of a Cheshire Country House.Ex Lowther Castle.Additional InformationOne has a couple of small losses to the leaves and the flowers, with some old restoration to these areas also. This vase also has a fine crack running through the base, approx. 6cm and some surface pitting to the glaze. Some restoration to the body. The second vase has either firing imperfections or damage to the neck, this is now painted with gold leaves to cover this up, matching the external detail. Also surface pitting in areas. There is also an area of the body that has been restored, and you can see where a crack has previously been, not only on the outside, but also the inside. Some small losses to the leaves and petals and some old restorations around these areas. It also has some firing cracks and a hairline crack running around the base.
A pair of early 19th century Derby 'Warwick Vases', both with gilt heightened detail and pierced scrolling handles, with both relief moulded and hand painted floral detail to the bodies, on simulated grey marble bases, unmarked, c.1820, height 22.5cm, width 32.5cm (2).Provenance: The contents of a Cheshire Country House.Additional InformationSome rubbing to the gilding, one of the gilt leaf and grape applied sections is restored, as is the branch leading to this. Also small area of restoration to the rim of one above where this gilt detail has been restored. The other vase has a crack running through the interior which is not visible from outside, just from the inside. It is possible that there has been some re-gilding, but it is not showing through the UV. Although it is possible that this is covering further restoration.
SAMUEL ALCOCK & CO; A large and unusual pair of Etruscan inspired twin handled terracotta vases, the upper portion decorated with bands of stylised motifs within grapes and vines, the main bodies with a continuous band of figures, height 55.5cm.Provenance: The contents of a Cheshire Country House.Additional InformationOverall both are in excellent condition. A couple of minor surface abrasions to the enamel paintwork, leaving a rough finish in parts and some possible overpaint. One handle has a 1cm hairline crack running to the underside. Both sold with associated bases.Each vase weighs approx. 120 ozt.
