A 19th century Bohemian engraved and ruby flashed glass vase, indistinct etched maker's mark to base, beaker form with everted rim, engraved with circular ruby floral reserves on an all-over engraved ground with birds, rocaille, foliage and flowers, below a ruby cased floral engraved rim, 6in. (15.3cm.) high; together with a 19th century engraved blown glass footed bowl, 8¼in. (21cm.) diameter; a Bohemian amber and ruby flashed and engraved glass goblet, chipped; a Bohemian ruby flashed glass beaker with finely engraved floral, scroll and wrigglework decoration; and three other pieces. (7), Condition: - Ruby flashed & engraved vase: VG with no faults., * Clear engraved glass bowl: Long, thin impact crack to top or rim., - Goblet: Large chip to foot and scratching to underside. Three rim chips., - Beaker: Two tiny frits to top of rim. Two tiny chips to top of base and a couple of minute frits., - Ruby flashed bowl: Tiny rim frit. A few scratches to base., - Ruby vase: Scratching to base, a few tiny scratches elsewhere., - Clear ribbed glass small vase with ruby lined rim: VG, no faults.
A Victorian oversized goblet form cranberry and clear glass vase, the ovoid cranberry bowl with engraved fern leaf decoration and engraved inscription, 'A Birthday Present to Mr. Hiram Syson Burslem Feb. 22nd 1879', on hollow hourglass stem and foliate scroll engraved plain foot with ground pontil, 11¼in. (28.5cm.) high; together with a Victorian cut glass tazza, 8¼in. (21cm.) high. (2), *Condition: - Goblet vase: VG - minor scratches around edge of base. No other faults., - Tazza: Shallow chip to inside edge of rim.

(34.25cm.) high. , *Condition: Very good with no chips, cracks or other damage. No restoration.

(30.5cm.) high; together with a Japanese enamelled earthenware twin handled baluster vase, with twin beast handles, decorated with fruiting vines, 12½in. (31.75cm.) high. (2), *Condition: - Green vase: Very good, with no damage. Two glaze flaws to body., - Japanese vase: Some discoluration to cream glazed areas and wear to lattice painted decoration. No chips or cracks.
A set of six 18th century mahogany dining chairs in the manner of Thomas Chippendale, the foliate carved yoke top rails over interlaced carved and pierced vase splats, above drop-in seats in petit point with birds in trees within mirror shaped reserves, raised on straight moulded front legs and square back legs, united by H-stretchers, repairs, some damage to polish. A Regency cross banded mahogany dwarf glazed bookcase, the rectangular rosewood cross banded and edged top with rounded front angles, on turned, reeded and tapered columns with gilt brass mounts, flanking a pair of glazed rosewood cross banded doors enclosing two adjustable shelves, raised on turned vase feet, 35 x 11¾in. (90 x 30cm.), 36in. (91cm.) high.
A pair of Chinese porcelain Imari decorated baluster vase table lamps, the vases late 18th / early 19th century, later converted to lamps, the vases decorated in the Imari palette with birds, flowering peonies and bamboo issuing from a rocky outcrop, within diaper, ruyi and foliate pendant borders, on gilt bronze Empire style bases and urn socles, 16¼in. (41.25cm.) high to top of urn socle. (2), *Condition: Vases have not been removed and therefore could not be examined fully. There is no damage to the visible porcelain. There is some gilt wear to the decoration and some small scratches to the glaze. The upper lamp fittings are of two different types. The lamps have old wiring and will require rewiring before use as lamps.

Lorimer was a keen amateur astronomer and served as a Vice President of the Society. Following his death on November 4th 1936, he bequeathed the majority of his estate to the Society including these chairs. The Society had them displayed at their premises on Calton Hill until 2008 after which they were displayed at Kellie Castle, Fife, the family home of Robert and Henry Lorimer
