An amusing Robinson and Leadbeater Monkey Vase,1871, in the form of five bamboo sections encircled by a serpent, a monkey perched atop and peering down, lozenge mark 21.2cm Twelve years had elapsed since Darwin's 'Origin of the Species' had been published, but dispute still raged around man's pedigree; most monkey-related objects at this date were a homage to the book and it is possible that in this instance the serpent is a Genesis reference, indeed the monkey is holding a fruit.
A large Royal Worcester Vase and Cover, 1904, one side painted with a female and cock pheasant in a misty wood, by James Stinton, signed, the reverse with them taking flight, the shoulders with moulded acanthus echoed at the base and with twin leaf and leonine head handles, all in yellow and peach, the domed cover matching and with spire knop, printed registration mark 227598 and 1722,50cm (2)
