A pair of Canton sack form vases, circa 1870, the necks to simulate folded cloth above a typical palette with panels of figures within in interiors and birds amongst pomegranates, peony and peaches, all border with green scroll and gilt ground and with gilt dog of fo handles. Height 25 cm. CONDITION REPORT: One vase has a small chip which measures 1 cm x 1 cm on the exterior rim. Both vases have very light rubbing to the gilt lions. Otherwise there are no further obvious faults or flaws visible. Each vase rings out nicely when tapped. The ginger jar with flat circular lid - there is a small speck to the lid where the cobalt has burnt through however this is a firing flaw. Other than that there are no post production faults, cracks or flaws visible. The main body is in good order throughout. This vase carries the pseudo four character Kang Xi mark. The vase with domed cover, both items are in good order. All items ring out nicely when tapped.
Two Chinese blue and white ginger jars and covers, 19th century, each decorated with a blossoming peony branch against a blue wash ground and with dentil band to the shoulder, one with pseudo four character Kangxi mark with earlier cover, the other with contemporary cover. 24 cm and 25.5 cm respectively. CONDITION REPORT: The jar with the flat top cover has a small 1 cm firing crack to the centre, basically in the glaze and a small heaping and piling mark on the rim. Otherwise is it is good order with no post production faults or flaws. The vase itself is in good order with no visible obvious cracks or flaws. This vase carries a pseudo Kangxi mark. The vase with the dome topped cover is in good order throughout and has no visible obvious flaws.
A Cantonese vase, with flared lip and decorated in typical Canton colours with panels of figures. Height 45 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The gilding to the rim is 98% erased. There is a large circumference hairline crack to the main body, this is visible on the interior, the exterior has been restored, therefore disguising the damage to the side of the vase and runs ever so slightly into the border of the main panels. There are further cracks issuing from this main circumference crack. The Chilong and the Shi-Shi lions to the shoulder and neck respectively all appear to be in good order.
A Japanese Imari vase, 19th century, with wavy flared rim above relief moulded adorsed dragons and flames against an Imari palette ground on a carved wood stand. Vase 41 cm, overall 54.4 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There are small chips throughout the topside and underside of the rim. The body appears to be in good order with no post production flaws, cracks or chips. There is a broken 15 cm firing crack possibly where the body has been fluted. There are smaller 3 cm, 4 cm and smaller firing cracks throughout the body but these are not detrimental. There two 2.5 cm and 2 cm firing cracks to the underside. On first appearance the carved hardwood stand is in good order however two of the legs have been broken and glued and the central stretcher has shrunk with the joints now visible. Regardless of this is a very nice stand.
A Chinese blue and white inverted baluster vase, 19th century, painted with ladies playing go with attendants holding either a sprig of flowers or fans, all between floral borders, four character Kangxi mark. 31 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There are a few small specks of kiln dirt in the glaze however there do not appear to be any obvious post production faults, flaws, cracks or chips visible. This vase carries a pseudo four character Kang Xi mark.
A pair of Chinese prunus gu shaped vases, 19th century, pseudo four character Kangxi mark. Height 35 cm. CONDITION REPORT: One vase has a 6 cm long section of restorer's overspray to the bottom rim about 6 cm long and 1 cm wide. The other vase has a very fine 8 cm hairline crack just above the central band. There is a small 2 cm square patch to the interior that has been restored.
A Chinese Champleve enamel vase, decorated with repeating designs. Height 36 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There are no immediate obvious flaws visible, however, upon inspection there is a 5 mm x 4 mm indent to the upper blue ground border band. There is a small fingernail sized bruise to the main central band. There is a tiny section roughly 3 mm x 4 mm of cloisonné missing to the main central section. The lower bladed panels and ground appear to have no obvious faults however it is rather untidy where the cloisonné meets the base. In my opinion this vase is the second half of the 19th Century but is approaching 1900. There are no scratches visible but the cloisonné is not clean and is dirty and pitted throughout.
