(D) Norton was apprenticed with the Coalport Company at the age of 13 and subsequently became one of their designers. During the 1920s he worked in collaboration with his wife, Lily Norton, at Chalcot Gardens, London, where he produced small figurative sculptural pieces under the business name 'Kerama Studio'.
