A Chinese jadeite vase and cover , with apple green, russet and lavender inclusions, of flattened slender rectangular section, well carved to each side with branch, leaf, bird and fruit pierced handles, the cover with bud, bird and leaf knop, with paper collector's label to base 'Bruges 1947', the vase and cover measures 17.3cm high and when on the stand oevrall height of 19.5cm. A Chinese spinach jade vase, late 19th or 20th century, of flattened form with two pierced handles and waisted neck carved with lappets and the body carved to each side with scrolling flowers and foliage, the vase 24.7cm high, wood stand Provenance: Collected in the 1930's by Lieutenant-Commander Ninian Scott-Elliot, 1911-1998 and by descent. After an education at Eton, Scott-Elliot joined the Royal Navy and was soon serving on gunboats patrolling the Upper Yangtze River. He won a distinguished Service Cross as well as being mentioned in Dispatches when serving in the Royal Navy in the Second World War.
