Tibetan Amitabha Buddha, Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD A gilt bronze statuette of Amitabha Buddha, wearing a crown with three pinnacles to the front, decorated with crossed vajra thunderbolts and scrolling plant motifs, set with turquoise and coral beads. The hair pulled up into an elaborate top-knot with three buns. Elongated ears with loop earrings in the form of snakes set with turquoise beads. Necklaces to the chest decorated with turquoise and coral beads, shawl around the upper arms decorated with scrolling plant motifs. Hands resting on the crossed legs holding the vase of the elixir of life. Seated on a double lotus throne, sealed to the underside and engraved with a double vajra thunderbolt.23cm Provenance: Ex. Greek pottery two handled vase circa 4th or 3rd century BC. A buff Messapian two handled kantharos from the Greek south Italian colonies. This piece is very well potted with attractive red decoration in concentric lines to the neck, body and base of the pot. The item is in excellent condition and is complete and intact. A good display piece from an old English collection. Size: 160 x 180mm including handles. Very good condition.
