Messing, getrieben, martelliert, brüniert und vergoldet. Innen originaler Blecheinsatz für Blumen. Über dem Fuß graviert "JEAN DUNAND". H 49,5 cm.Jean Dunand (1877 - 1942), das Modell von 1913."Genêts" wurde im Mai 1913 auf dem Salon de la Nationale in Paris zusammen mit einer größeren Anzahl von Vasen aus verschieden bearbeiteten Metallen vorgestellt. Im selben Jahr erhielt Jean Dunand mit anderen französischen Kunsthandwerkern die Möglichkeit, Vitrinen auf dem Transatlantikdampfer "France" zu bestücken. Dafür wählte er erneut diese Vase. Schon in den ersten Tagen des Weltkriegs wurde einer seiner wichtigsten Mitarbeiter und Pate seines 1908 geborenen Sohnes Bernard, François-Louis Schmied, schwer verwundet und verlor ein Auge. Schmied war für die Holzmodelle zuständig, über die seine Vasen getrieben wurden. Seine Verletzung veranlasste den vielseitig begabten Jean Dunand, einen Helm mit Augenschutz zu entwickeln. Der tragische Unfall mag jedenfalls einer der Gründe gewesen sein, warum Jean Dunand seine Produktion vom Ziselieren und Gravieren auf die Herstellung von tauschierten und lackierten Metallobjekten verlagerte.
