An American metalwares silver trumpet vase of large proportions, mark of Shreve & Company, loaded circular foot with scalloped rim and decorative floral engraving, column similarly decorated, trumpet with scalloped edge, marked to the underside SHREVE & CO STERLING BASE LOADED 8810, 23cm diameter at the rim, 56cm highProvenance: From the estate of the late Julie Cecil (1942-2022)Shreve & Company is an established retailer of jewellery, silver and objets, based in San Francisco, California. Incorporated in 1894 by George Rodman Shreve and Albert J. Lewis, it is considered to be the oldest commercial establishment in San Francisco. The store was one of very few buildings to survive the 1905 earthquake.
