Quantity of Aynsley "Tudor Rose", dinner and tea service to include, six soup bowls, six dinner plates, four cake plates, an oval serving plate, a large bowl, eight tea cups, four saucers, a large pedestal bowl, a salt and pepper, six dessert bowls, a sugar bowl and lid, three pin dishes and a coffee can saucer, tea pot, milk jug, twin handled lidded sugar bowl and vase, (48).
2nd century BC. A Hellenistic silver vase with globular body and wide flat base; gently tapering neck which ends in a wide mouth with rolled rim; handle (detached) in the form of the head of the god Pan with large goat horns that curve upwards to form the handle. 101 grams, 90mm (3 1/2"). Property of a gentleman; acquired in the late 1960s-early 1970s. Fine condition. Rare.
Han Dynasty, 206 BC-220 AD. A bronze hu piriform vase with domed lid; the surface ornamented with raised bands of geometric ornament, animal-masks, roundels and other details; two loop handles to the shoulder with openwork flange detailing and similar to the base, body and lid. 3.1 kg, 35cm overall (13 3/4"). UK art market, acquired prior to 1980. Fine condition.
Neolithic, 3rd millennium BC. A ceramic vase with narrow base, biconical body, short tubular neck with everted rim, two loop handles to the equator; the upper body painted with linear chevrons in red and brown pigment, swags beneath and discoid panels with hatched grids. 2.6 kg, 27cm (10 1/2"). Private collection, North London; acquired in the early 1980s. Fine condition.
1st-2nd century AD. A bronze linch pin of vase-headed type with transverse piercings to the bulb, square-section socket below the flange, broad D-shaped plaque with rolled edge; incised La Tène motif to the bulb, two discoid cells and incised arch, to the upper face concentric rings and two leaf-shaped panels reserved against an originally enamelled field. Cf. MacGregor, M. Early Celtic Art in North Britain, vol.2, Leicester, 1976, item 131 from Traprain Law, Scotland. 68 grams, 40mm (1 1/2"). Found Norfolk, UK. [No Reserve] Fair condition.
