An extremely rare novelty Franz Bergman cold painted frog bottle top, Austrian, late 19th century, very unusual, the frog is climbing a rope and it's head is breaking out through the bottle top, it's designed to stand on top of a clear bottle, which displays the frogs top half, but also the legs climbing the rope, the underside of lid shows the makers mark "B" within a double handled vase/urn, comes with custom made clear glass tube on wooden stand for display, 2 3/8in. (6cm.), without display. *Condition: in excellent condition, with most of it's paint.

(19cm.) high, repair to rim.* Provenance: Christies Amsterdam, April 1992, Lot 296.** Condition: Piece off from rim and with glued repair - tiny chip to top of repair. Tiny chip to edge of foot. Some shipwreck encrustation to inside of neck and body. Residue of encrustation to unglazed areas of base and cover underside. Glaze has some light scratching and matting to surface, probably due to post-salvage cleaning.

A Chinese blue and white porcelain brushpot, with four character Kangxi mark (1662-1722) and probably of the period, sleeve form with short, undercut foot, painted with warriors in a mountainous landscape, within Greek key and floral borders, 10in. (25.5cm.) high, damaged and repaired.* Condition: Top third of vase has been broken into several pieces and glue repaired to a good standard.  The rim has a large glaze chip and there are several burst glaze bubbles around the lower edge of the body.

Lot 1115

A Chinese bronze garlic head bottle vase, probably Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD), the compressed globular body below a waisted neck with swollen garlic head rim, raised on a slightly flared foot, the base with loop to centre, the exterior with mineral encrustation in various colours, some traces of gilding, 14½in. (37cm.) high.* Provenance: Michael Goedhuis, gallery label to underside, stock no. Y 4057.** Condition: Three shallow dents to widest part of body. Above one is a very old split to bronze, which has been well repaired, with a small filled hole to the lower section of split (filler is visible under UV). Small dent with deep scratch to centre to centre of neck. Wear to mineralised encrustation to one side of mouth.

A Mintons Art Pottery Studio Kensington Gore vase circa 1871-75, painted with flowering branches terminating in dark green and pale brown leaves against a pale brown ground, printed factory marks, painted '*60' and '303' in black, shape number 7386, 26cm high (extending firing crack)Built on the Gore estate in 1871, the Studio lay in close proximity to institutions which would help instruct, educate, and inspire its artists – the South Kensington Museum, the School of Art, the Horticultural Gardens, and the Royal Albert Hall. Sadly the Studio's history is a relatively rocky one, eventually ended with it's destruction by a fire in 1875. Nevertheless, the short-lived Studio had a significant impact on the company and its future by paving the way for the many talented artists who supplied designs or worked there - such as the likes of Dr. Christopher Dresser, John Moyr Smith and W.S.Coleman who would continue to work for the company and produce some of their most exceptional designs.
