Henri J. Harpignies (1819-1916), charcoal drawing, Chemin Creux 1911, signed and dated with Fine Art Society label verso, 37 x 51.5cmCONDITION: Overall rather dirty and dusty with much of the ormolu matted and / or oxidised, the lid with twin cherubs lifts up to permit access from above to the movement which presumably could then be slid forwards from the front, joints between the cherub group and the rim of the lid are poor and both cherubs are a little loose so all of this could do with retightening, central vase and right hand scroll handle again a little loose, base cherubs and plinth off colour to a dull gilt finish, one small leaf missing from beside the right putto right hand, otherwise looks complete, feet slightly bent out of shape, dial original but damaged around the left hand winding hole, hands look original, movement thought to be original although hard to access, no pendulum or key present so not tested for timekeeping.
