An early 20th Century Japanese cloisonné vase, the flared turquoise ground floral decorated slender neck over a main red ground body decorated with water lilies and blossom raised on a circular foot 12 cm high together with an early 20th Century Japanese bonsai bowl in the 18th Century Chinese manner decorated with figures in a garden setting, bears printed seal mark to base, 21.3 cm x 15.5 cm x 6.7 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The bonsai dish - has water mark/limescale mark to the interior, firing faults throughout, wear to the decoration throughout, several small chips including one to the interior edge and another to one of the exterior ribs.The cloisonne vase - has taken a knock at some point. The enamel work is cracked in one area and has another knock with a hole to the enamel in a separate area as well as general firing faults throughout. Both pieces dirty and in need of a clean. Both with general wear and tear to include some surface scratching, etc. See images for further details.

NESTOR CAMBIER (1879-1949) "Lady in white dress with red sash, a glass vase in foreground", a portrait study, full length, oil on canvas, signed lower left, 92 cm x 70 cm CONDITION REPORTS Has crazing variously throughout, particularly in the top left hand corner and on the blue to the edge of her skirt with her knee. There is an area of dirt to the bottom of her skirt near her ankles, whole painting could do with a clean. Otherwise general wear and tear conducive with age and use. A box containing a Chinese ginger jar with turquoise ground, set with crane and flowers, together with another smaller similar, a pair of Victorian pink glass vases and matching cylindrical vase and similar jug and KENSI "Townscape scene", oil on canvas, indistinctly signed lower right and inscribed "Kensi 66" verso, together with another similar CONDITION REPORTS The larger of the ginger jars - there is a small chip to the edge of the lid and there is wear to the glaze where the lid rubs. There is a strange firing / glaze residue to base. The smaller jar has wear to the glaze where the lid has rubbed and the lid has been broken in several pieces and badly restored. Both have firing faults etc, surface scratches. The pink glass jug has a crack running down the main body from the join of the handle. One of the pair of vases has damage to four of its legs as well as a crack running down the neck. The other one also has damaged feet. The cylindrical vase has damage to its feet as well as two chips to the rim. The portrait picture has damage and rips through the canvas as well as repairs. Appears to have been re-varnished with a yellowy substance. The smaller picture also has repairs and heavy crazing. Again appears to have been re-varnished. All items with general wear and tear conducive with age and use. See images for further detail.

Condition:Crazing to the ungilded body. No damages or repairs.
A pair of Coalport ribbon vases and covers, circa 1860the lobed ovoid forms tied at the bulbous neck by a pair of turquoise ribbon bows, the body painted with garlands of pink and yellow roses suspended from a purple ribbon, with opposing oval panels of arrow quivers, marked 'CBD', 37.5cm high (one foot restored)Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection.Condition:Both stems/feet have been restored.Both vases have crazing to the glaze. There is some minor gilt wear to the mouth of both vases and the knops on the covers. One vase has rubbing to the gilding on the circular base. Unclear what the original damage to the feet was, but it is possibly to cover a previous break to the foot and possible detachment from the main body of the vase.
A good quality Coalport ornamental jardiniere, circa 1855-60modelled in the French style with a 'Sardinian' green ground, painted with a panel of flowers attributed to William Cook, opposed by a panel of fruit, raised on four feet, with a pierced rim, marked CSN, 16.5cm high, 26cm wide (small chip to foot)Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection. This vase is illustrated in Messenger, Michael 'Coalport - 1795-1926' (Antique Collectors Club, Suffolk, 1995), page 256, plate 196. Previously in the C.R. Pilkington Collection.Condition:Condition is good with no damages or restoration. Fine crazing to the glaze visible to both panels and the white interior. Minor handling wear to the gilt on the rim and further wear to the feet. A couple of small nibbles to the edge of one foot. The gilding around the floral panel also has areas flaking and missing.
A large and unusual Coalport 'jewelled' vase and cover, circa 1885 of flared bombe form with a twisted wrythen cover, the pale yellow panelled and pink ground decorated with simulated turquoise cabochon, pearls and rubies, raised on four scrolling feet, printed factory mark, 38.5cm highProvenance: Ivor Southorn Collection.Condition:Some good professional restoration with gilding retouching to a small section on the underside and rim of base, probably to restore a chip. Further restoration to one leaf on the upper rim.Fine crazing to the glaze throughout. There is a hairline visible above one handle extending upwards toward the rim (below the restored leaf)All jewels present but one of the larger turquoise jewels has a scratch through the centre and another large jewel has a spot of wear. Some gilt wear around the base.No other damages or repairs.

A large and impressive Coalport vase and cover, early 20th centurywith unusual angular lion's head handles, the cobalt blue ground richly decorated with raised and flat gilt, the large oval panel of a still life of fruit painted by F. Chivers, artist signed, printed factory mark in green, 44cm high (restored)Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection.Condition:Fully restored.Cover restored, with cracks/old damage still slightly visible to the underside. Numerous body cracks have also been restored, including to the panel and the rim. There is a crack right around one handle (below the lion head). Vase bolted to the socle. Crazing to the glaze visible to the yellow areas of the body. The main restoration to the body has been done very well so it is very difficult to see how bad the original damage is. A good Coalport 'Coalbrookdale' floral encrusted vase, circa 1830-35the magenta ground finely painted with two opposing panels of flowers, further decorated with gilt flowers to the sides, unmarked, 36cm highProvenance: The Ivor Southorn Collection.Condition:Some restoration to one handle (likely broken off) and several leaves. There are further breakages to other leaves, and also to the flowers, mostly comprising chips or breakages to the ends of petals. There is a short hairline to the right-hand side of one painted panel, below the restored handle. The painted panels are in very good order and so is the gilding.

A couple of scratches to the gilt on one handle.
A pair of Coalport ornithological vases and covers painted by John Randall, circa 1871of tripartite shield-form, each side finely painted with birds of prey and parrots perched on branches, divided by vertical pilasters enriched with diamond pattern straps, on a conforming socle, unmarked, 45.5cm high (2)Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection. Ex. lot label for Christie's, lot 153, 12th May 1994. These are very similar to a vase and cover painted by Randall which was exhibited in the 1871 Exhibition. This lot was previously loaned to the Coalport Museum for the 'Coalport at the Court of the Tsar -1996 Bicentenary Exhibition'.Condition:Both covers restored. One foot has been broken and re-bolted, some wear. The other vase has some good quality restoration to the foot. Nothing shows up under UV but it looks like there was a crack which has been filled and colour matched with the area around it over painted. No further signs of damages.
A large Exhibition Quality Coalport vase and cover, circa 1855-60of baluster form with a domed cover, the spiral fluted neck flanked by foliate handles with satyr mask terminals, the Sardinian green ground painted with a large oval Italianate landscape of figures reeling in nets with a bridge and mountains beyond, opposed by a further panel of flowers and fruit by William Cook, on a square base, CBD mark in gilt, 54cm high (restored)Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection.Condition:Professionally restored to a very high standard. Over-painting covers at least a third of the surface and so it is hard to determine the extent of the original damage, but it is assumed that the vase was broken into no fewer than two parts and re-assembled. Most of the original gilding is intact. There is one small section of the floral panel that has been restored but the remainder appears untouched. The socle has also been off and the base at the very least fully re-touched.
A Coalport 'Coalbrookdale' porcelain writing set or deskstand, circa 1835 of twin-handled form, with inkwell, sander and spill vase, finely painted with flowers and butterflies, typically encrusted with flowers, signed in underglaze blue 'Cdale' to the base, 30cm wide (missing one inkwell) Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection. Notes: This 'two by two' configuration is much rarer than the more commonly found inkstands which typically only include three central linear recesses for inkwells, a vase and/or a candlestick. Condition:Missing an inkwell and cover. The other inkwell's cover is chipped. Losses and breakages to flowers and foliage throughout. One piece of fruit/foliage has been crudely broken and re-stuck. There is a chip to one foot and another foot has been cleanly broken and re-stuck. Crazing throughout.
A Coalport 'Warwick' Vase and cover, circa 1830of twin-handled form, with trailing vines beneath the gadrooned rim extending from bifurcated handles, decorated with bouquets of flowers on a green ground highlighted with gilt foliage, the lid with rosebud finial, on a square pedestal base, unmarked,21cm highProvenance: Ivor Southorn Collection.Condition:Cover - Small chip to one petal of the rosebud and a chip to the inner underside rim.Vase - Six nibbles to the upper rim, mostly to the underside. One further minute nibble to the lower flange on the centre column above the pedestal base.Condition is otherwise good. The panels and the gilding are all in good order with no signs of wear. There is some minor crazing to the topside of the cover.

There are a few small patches of brown discolouration on the inner rim. A slight hairline is visible to the base's underside, but this is possibly just a stained crazing line. No damages or restorations.
An impressive Coalport limited edition Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee vase and cover, 1897made exclusively for Osler & Co, a limited edition numbered 4 of 50 and likely painted by J.H Plantthe cover with crown imperial finial, painted with four orders of knighthood in circlets linked by gilt diamond, thistle, shamrock and rose chain, angular lion's head handles, the body decorated to either side with young and old heads of Queen Victoria in profile as portrait medallions on a ruby ground, within a gilt circlet set with six sepia views to either side to document the industrial and agricultural progress throughout her reign, within wreath surrounds and gilt with oak branches, the socle with the Colonial Dominions of Australia and Canada, printed factory marks and the inscription 'This vase is one of 50 produced to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee 1897, Manufacturered by the Coalport China Co Limited Exclusively for US No4' to cover and base, 53cm high (cover restored)Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection.Condition:Cover - there is restoration, it looks like the knop has been broken off and so has the top of the crown. This is good quality restoration and has been done relative sympathetically. There are also some hairlines to the underside of the cover and this area has been over painted to cover these. One hairline is still slightly visible. The top of the cover has patches and spots of brown discolouration.Vase - the interior of the vase is heavily discoloured. Possible water damage? In the same area to the exterior, there is also a slight discolouration. The exterior section of the vase above the base has some stained crazing lines. Generally, the whole of the body has closely packed crazing throughout. Some of this crazing on the foot is also stained and discoloured. Again, the underside is very stained. No signs of other damages or repairs. There is some slight wear to the gilding on the edges of the handles.Please see images

Sold together with an original newspaper page showing Bill Dickenson holding this vase to advertise the Shropshire Antiques Fair at the Lion Hotel, in February 1990.Condition:Stress cracks and hairlines to the underside of the base. Some crazing to the glaze. Restoration to the upper scroll of one handle alongside at least two sections on the upper part of the pierced rim.

A pair of good quality Coalport ewers, early 20th century, of baluster form with gilt scrolling handles, the blue and pale yellow ground with complex and flat gilt decoration, painted with landscapes including titled views of Melrose Abbey and Hawthornden Castle, printed factory mark in green, numbered 'V5.600/149' in gilt, 34.5cm high (both restored) (2)Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection.Condition:The Hawthornden ewer has restoration to the foot and the Melrose Ewer has restoration to the neck/mouth. Both items are professionally restored to a high standard and it is difficult to ascertain the original damage. The Hawthornden vase also has some wear to two of the girl and cobalt scaled panels surrounding the landscape (on the secondary side).
