An Attic red-figured vase fragment The Pioneer group, circa 530 - 470 BC; 3,5 cm (1,37 in) long; A fine pottery fragment, perfect purification, well-preserved black painted ground, superbly depicted with a profile figure of a satyr, the top of the hair and the beard rendered in relief obtained with well-defined globes-shaped decoration while the lower part of the beard is elegantly depicted in descending locks. The ivy leaf crown and the inscriptions KT above the register are painted in red. The presence of a satyr and a female hand suggest a scene with which the satyr tries to abducting a maenad. Superbly depicted PROVENANCE: Private Collection, Germany.

An Arts and Crafts silver vase, by G L Connell Ltd., Birmingham 1912,of spot hammered flared cylindrical form, with applied Tudor rose decoration and inscribed with motto 'Gather ye roses while ye may old time is still a-flying', the foot with rope twist border,17.5cm high, 4oz An identical example, bearing the marks of A E Jones, has been sold at auction in 2013. A E Jones's work was sold by many retail companies and some chose to use their own retail mark on his pieces. All orders given to Jones by Connell's had to be marketed under G L Connell Ltd.
