A Doucai 'Phoenix' Vase, Hu, 18th century, of pear shape, well decorated in a combination of enamel and dark underglaze blue line, the belly with two phoenix among flower scrolls, beneath triple bowstring lines on the neck enclosing formal borders, and another band of flower scroll below the rim, H:33cm.fair condition,short crack from rim with small restored chips, areas of restoration within foot. Similarly painted flower heads, scrollwork and phoenix can be seen on a meiping in the Qing Court collection in the National Palace Museum, Beijing. The vase is one of a dragon and phoenix pair, which are unmarked, but dated to the Qianlong period in the catalogue. It is illustrated as catalogue no. 237, in volume 38, The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong 1999
