A CHINESE BOTTLE VASE of ovoid form with flared neck, underglaze blue painted decoration of scholars and warriors, four character kangxi mark to base, 24.5cm high; and a Chinese baluster vase decorated with two boys raising a large vase, 24.5cm high (both items damages) Condition Report : extensive damage to both vases, they have each been broken and crudely re-glued. His trainer George Frederick Leader died with his wife in a car accident, on the way home from the race. Gainslaw was sold to a Polish princess and while in Poland sired a filly, Margaritka. As the Second World War came to an end, many Polish thoroughbred horses were taken to Russia. Here Margaritka succeeded in winning good races, and her second foal, Element, won many races including the Russian Derby. Element later sired Anilin, reputed to be the greatest horse to grace the Russian turf. Alfred Bright, a Liverpool cotton broker, was president of the Liver Sketching Club from 1919-1922, painting well-known racehorses of the era.

The canton plate has a glued rim chip, a further rim chip and three hairline cracks on the rim. All other items appear to be in good condition, with no obvious visible cracks, chips or restoration.

The glaze has many stress fractures when closely inspected. The green monochrome has repaired breaks. The caramel lotus bowl extensively broken and glued. A small glaze chip to dark green glazed vase. Rim nibbles to the blue glaze vase. Korot with damaged knop.
