Decorated on the outside with the 16 arhats with their attendant animals and attributes. Age: Qing dynasty with an apocryphal Kangxi mark Description: A handsome carved and molded sancai glazed biscuit porcelain vase, double walled and reticulated, with taotie masks against reticulated cloud background and ruyi-blade borders. Unglazed foot rim with incised six character Kangxi mark to yellow glazed bottom. Size: 12", 30.5cm. Provenance: From an important Midwestern collection, started in 1876. The collection was donated to a museum in 1938 and remained part of the Museum's collection until this year where it is being deaccessioned for purposes of raising money for preservation and further acquisition. Age: Zhou dynasty, 1046-256 BCE Description: A rare and elegant Chinese archaic bronze covered wine vessel. Ovoid cross section form with band of stylized cloud motif around the neck and lid, and with two raised bands on the foot. Four impressed characters on the interior of the lid. Size: 6 3/4", 17.15cm. Provenance: (According to supplied provenance) Acquired in the 1930s at auction by the Winter family, thence by descent within the family. Documented in the family since the 1970s Letter of provenance included with sale. Information restricted online only. Original provenance materials available for inspection upon request.Condition: The letter of provenance that is posted in the listing has been censored in Photoshop but the piece will come with the original letter or provenance without anything censored. We do not have any reference of the original auction but the gentlemen mentioned in the letter was a known collector of ancient Chinese bronzes during this time. This bronze was registered and inventoried in his collection as #28. As you will see in the additional photos, the clan mark is in the interior of the lid as well as the vase. That is why we believe the cover is original to the vase. There is chipping of to the built up patina around the upper rim. There is a loss on the bottom foot, approx. .75cm by 3 mm by 3mm. A second loss approx. 3.5mm by 4mm by 2mm. The Cover has had the malachite reduced to reveal the clan mark beneath. There is an old damage visible on one edge of the rim as seen in photos. Age: late Qing dynasty Description: A very fine Chinese sea-foam green jadeite "Grasshopper and Vine" vase, intricately worked as a flattened ovoid vase set on a rockwork base from which a vine and its tendrils meander up the side of the body with mature leaves, a vegetable and a large grasshopper near the neck, the complementing cover also with openwork vegetation and connected with a very long linked chain, the details cleverly worked to emphasize the natural splashes of apple green in the stone, the polish with an attractive glossy surface and the stone overall with nice texture and translucency. Size: 7.75", 19.7 cm. excluding wood stand. Provenance: Private French collection, acquired in Paris. Condition: The vase is in fair condition, having a single restored link pictured and not very noticeable, a small natural fissure is also visible around the neck under the lid (pictured) and also a fissure is hidden in one of the leaves on the body of the vase (pictures).
