Twentieth century French carriage clock with eight day timepiece movement, lever escapement, back plate stamped - L'Epée 1839 Made in France, eleven jewels, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, signed - L'Epée Fondée en 1839 Sainte Suxanne France, in a gilt brass serpentine vase with shaped swing handle, on four turned feet, 15cm overall height CONDITION REPORT General overall condition reasonably good. Balance swings and movement appears to be in working order but balance escapement is possibly a replacement. Dial is in good condition. No visible damage. Case is worn and gilt finish is now patchy. Some areas of case pillars are corroded. There is no carrying case
Large late seventeenth century and later oak dining table with wide plank top and canted corners, plain frieze with plaque at one end stating 'This table stood in the Moot Hall (or Manor House) of Wakefield, Yorks for about 400 years. Purchased by Sir Gerald Ryan in Wakefield November 1913', with six vase-shaped turned supports on block feet joined by stretchers, 420cm long x 137cm wide x 81cm high. Provenance: Given to the Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre in the early 1960s by the Stokes Family CONDITION REPORT Top of table has some insert repairs, splits and general wear, commensurate with age Structually sound and a good solid table
