Dame Lucie Rie (1902-1995), an oviform porcelain vase c.1975, impressed seal to base A white glazed porcelain vase with spiralled decoration in muted greys and browns with subtle light blue edges to the spiralling 16cm high (restored) (ARR) Note: For a similar vase see Tony Birks 'Lucie Rie' Marston House 1999 p.166The vase has had some old restoration carried out to a large section of the rim mainly on one side. This has been well done but is visible otherwise it displays nicely and is a nice example

A small spot of some form of restoration has been picked up by a UV light on the rim and there is shiny mark to the inside, perhaps some form of stabiliser/sealant that corresponds with the restoration on the Iris, this mark can be seen on the inside and looks like someone has left a small piece of Sellotape there. Two firing cracks to the sides and a tiny one on the base to the interior - but these are not damage as these occurred in the firing and are only visible on the inside. A few small marks and light natural wear to base. (Please ask department for photographs.)

The inside is covered overall with a layer of white deposits (calcium? plaster?) from the neck down to the bottom. Inherent bubbles in the glass especially towards the bottom, some open on the base.
