A GROUP OF SIX VARIOUS STAFFORDSHIRE CREAMWARE FIGURES OF WOOD FAMILY TYPE CIRCA 1790Including a figure of Ophelia, 32cm high; a figure of Neptune 29cm high; a pair of spill-vase groups, 21cm high and a pair of figures of a harvester and companion, the latter stamped to base R. A MONUMENTAL PAIR OF CARVED MARBLE URNS AFTER THE ANTIQUE, CONTEMPORARY Mask and ram head decoration with trailing floral swags each 135cm high, the bases 48.5cm x 48cm Condition Report: Wear, marks, knocks and scratches as per age, handling, use, and cleaning. These are modern and show signs of use from domestic positioning- some edge wear- chip to a base corner and upper edge of one vase. One looks to have been moved with blue coloured strap which has marked the surface and will need cleaning. There are additional scrapes, small losses and marks from collection/movement of the items- which are very heavy. In the house these were displayed simply using gravity- the weight of the upper section to hold the two separate parts together- both are however drilled for insertion of rod to make union of top/bottom more secure and safer. The top of one base with slightly rough junction protruding point and old repair to edge damage. Some natural flaws and inclusions to stone- one larger flaw visible through base of one top. Insides of tops are not polished out. Please see additional images for visual references to condition which form part of this condition report. Shilvock Dr Shilvock (1905-1971) knew all the Howson Taylor family and most of the workers at the Ruskin Pottery. His general practice was in Warley, very close to the Ruskin Pottery in Smethwick.
