A Belleek 'Bird's Nest' spill vase, circa 1891-1926, modelled as a flower encrusted tree trunk, with three lower and three upper vase spouts, surmounted by birds perched on foliage and on a nest, unmarked but probably Second Period, 32.5cm highCondition:Generally in good condition. A pair of rare Coalport 'Coalbrookdale' floral encrusted potpourri vases and covers, circa 1825-30the pierced cover surmounted by a tall bouquet of flowers, the body adorned with putti and numerous fruit and flowers, finely painted with panels of flowers, the ground picked out in gilt and turquoise, on square lemon yellow and gilt bases, underglaze blue 'Coalport' factory mark, 46cm high (2)Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection.Condition:Vase 1 - both handles broken and restuck. T-shaped hairline to the interior, near the rim. There are also further hairlines to the body near one handle. This vase is crumbling slightly at the mid section from where it has been moving at the bolt section, which needs tightening. Some chips and losses to foliage and fruit. Some wear to gilt on rim. One purple flower broken and restuck and a section of foliage beside this flower is missing. One leaf tip broken and restuck. Other minor losses. Noticable crazing to the base.Cover - firing cracks and hairlines, minor breakage to one orange flower and nibble to one pansy leaf.Vase 2 -Cover - firing cracks to the underside. Probable restoration to some green foliage and minor losses to flowers. Gilding wear to rim.Body- gilding wear to upper rim. Hairlines to both handles but they do not appear to have been broken off. Gilding to mouth and areas of the body is worn. There are two crack visible to the body (to the interior and exterior). Patches of crazing to the glaze, mostly the lower body. There are some firing faults and hairlines to some of the foliage. One purple is missing a petal but this has been painted over and was probably a firing fault. The same has happened to leaf on the base. Some slight disintegration from friction between pedestal and vase. Other minor losses to fruit and foliage.
