Chinese porcelain baluster vase painted in underglaze blue and converted to a table lamp with bronze and copper mounts, the vase of 19th century style with underglaze blue double ring mark to base, decorated with scroll pattern to neck and fret margin to foot, the body with extensive scrolled foliage and four flying dragons spaced with eight large flower heads, height excluding lamp mounts 34.5cm [The lamp mounts, which have a bayonet fitting, might date from the 1920's. The top edge of the neck rim of the vase, and the top inner margin of the neck, are unglazed, as is the recessed foot rim, suggesting it might originally have borne a lid and was intended for another stand or base. Alternatively, the vase might have been made contemporaneously with the lamp mount, however the hole in the base of the vase has been roughly drilled] This lot is presented and sold with the lamp mounts disassembled for inspection.
