Two Chinese porcelain blue and white vases, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) The first of baluster form, rising from a high domed and stepped foot, with basal knop, adorned with leafy tendrils and figural designs, with later silver replacement rim, 11cm high, late 19th Century 'Yu' mark, together with a large baluster form vase, painted with figures in fenced garden further detailed with tendrils issuing peonies, artemesia leaf mark to base, 15.5cm high. A fine quality Japanese shibayama vase, Meiji Period (1868-1912) The white metal body rising from scalloped ruyi shaped supports, beautifully embellished with polychrome enamelled open lotus flowerheads, the bombé shaped body flanked by beautifully cast three-clawed scaley dragons, and surmounted by a domed cover with cast quail finial, the sides detailed with gilt lacquered panels applied with mother of pearl depicting hanging floral baskets and crane below hanging willow trees, each panel further with cast iris detailing, signature plaque to base, 22cm high. Chinese porcelain baluster vase painted in underglaze blue and converted to a table lamp with bronze and copper mounts, the vase of 19th century style with underglaze blue double ring mark to base, decorated with scroll pattern to neck and fret margin to foot, the body with extensive scrolled foliage and four flying dragons spaced with eight large flower heads, height excluding lamp mounts 34.5cm [The lamp mounts, which have a bayonet fitting, might date from the 1920's. The top edge of the neck rim of the vase, and the top inner margin of the neck, are unglazed, as is the recessed foot rim, suggesting it might originally have borne a lid and was intended for another stand or base. Alternatively, the vase might have been made contemporaneously with the lamp mount, however the hole in the base of the vase has been roughly drilled] This lot is presented and sold with the lamp mounts disassembled for inspection.
