A Gentleman's Early 18th Century Ivory Fan, the gorge plain, the guards lightly carved and pique with silver metal. Fairly bulbous head. The double silk leaf, of dark green, is bound with gold foil. Mother-of-pearl thumb guards. Guard length 27.5cm; An 18th Century Ivory Fan, the slender monture plain save for mother-of-pearl thumb guards. The double silk leaf is currently lacking decoration. Guard length 26cm; A Mid-18th Century Bone Fan, the upper guards and gorge sticks carved and pierced. The double paper leaf is découpé and painted in the chinoiserie fashion with birds, urns, bonsai in bowls, foliage and a fan. The verso has a simple grouping of a vase and a fan. Guard length 29cm; and A Mid-18th Century Ivory Fan, with slender monture, the upper guards carved and pierced, the gorge more delicately, the double paper leaf with decoupage. The recto shows two couples cavorting in the countryside, next to a ruined building. The verso shows a simple rural scene. Guard length 28cm (4). Fan 1 - The silk leaf is splitting on some folds. Loss to one of the thumb guards. Fan 2 - Loss to one mop thumb guard. The leaf is splitting on several folds. Holding to the light, it is evident that this fan has sequin decoration stitched on, which is long since gone. Fan 3 - One gorge stick replaced, not pierced. Another is repaired from behind. The decoupage is generally sound save for one section top right next to the guard, patched from behind. The leaf is a little grubby. Fan 4 - The leaf has been shortened to the side and gorge sticks are missing. One guard has a replacement section at the top.
