The rest of the glass appears in tact, general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. Silver collar is heavily dented in places, and has come away from the glass in small areas.Spherical jar: No large fractures, cracks or chips. Small nibbles to the highpoints of the decoration, general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. Moderate denting to the silver cover, moderate scratching and wear. A Moorcroft tube lined vase by Walter Moorcroft, early 20th century circa 1928-1953, of inverted baluster form decorated in the "blue anemone" pattern, painted signature, impressed maker's mark and applied "By appointment" label to base, 16cm high CONDITION REPORT:The piece shows fine surface crazing throughout, and a fine hairline crack descending approximately 1.5cm from the rim.  The lower waisted section shows a small firing pit and glazing fault with a firing frit directly below just above the rim.

A 17th century marriage cofferThe hinged arched top applied with studded leather, the centre with initials HS and MA centred by a vase of flowers, the sides with bail handles, the interior partly lined with blue velvet, 121cm wide x 66cm deep x 86cm high, (48in wide x 26 ½in deep x 34 ½in high)Footnotes:This marriage coffer would have originally accompanied a bride to her new home, enclosing the items of her dowry. The initials HS and MA relate to the bride and groom. Initials such as these are often found on this type of chest, marking the coming together of two people. The present chest can be identified as Spanish based on its domed lid shape, applied studded decoration and remnants of a leather surface. The chest belongs to an ancient tradition found in many cultures around the world of chests, presented as part of a bride's dowry. In Italy, for example, this type of chest was called a cassone and was often highly decorated with painting or carving.
