A STRIKING FRENCH SILVER TROPHY VASE IN THE ART DECO TASTE BY HENRI LAPPARRA, c. 1933, the vase of faceted flared form with graduated loop handles on a domed circular foot, stamped mark, mounted on a shaped octagonal marble base bearing a silver label inscribed "Offert par Figaro et Figaro Illustre Saint-Moritz 1933", and with further maker's label "Lapparra Orfevre Paris". Height overall 25cm. Note: the trophy was presumably offered in a skiing competition by Le Figaro who will have commissioned it from the well-known Parisian silversmith Henri Lapparra
