Chinese blue and white crackle glaze vase, Republic period, the baluster shape vase with applied prunus branch handles, the body decorated with running battle scene in underglaze blue on a crackle background, incised seal mark to base, H61cm. There is obvious staining and wear to the body, some imperfections and firing faults to the blue glaze, minor rubbing/fritting to the top rim edge.
Chinese famille rose '100 flowers' porcelain vase, Republic period, the Ruyi handles with hanging fish tassels, body painted in polychrome peonies, chrysanthemums, other foliage on a gilt background, H32cm. When looking from the inside, a thin hairline crack is visible close to the base, signs of old glue to the base rim and very minor wear to the enamels and gilding.
Pair of Japanese red cloisonne vases, Meiji period, the pewter rimmed baluster shape vases decorated under enamel in bamboo pattern on a pimpled background, together with one smaller similar vase, max H15cm. There doesn't appear to be any damages, cracks or knocks to the enamel sections, there is light wear to the metal rims and bases.
Chinese Famille Rose porcelain vase, late Republic period, the baluster shape vase decorated with female attendants in garden scene below a border of ruyi, chrysanthemums and foliate scrollwork, attached on ebonised hardwood base, H35cm. The vase is glued to the base so the base mark cannot be seen, otherwise in fine condition. We will not remove the base so there is no chance of damaging vase.
Chinese porcelain Famille Rose table lamp, mid 20th century, of baluster shape, the reserve panels finely painted with attendants in a garden, between profusely decorated foliate backgrounds within Ruyi and geometric borders, on hardwood base and topped with matching shade with printed garden attendant decoration. Max H60cm with shade.The lamp has been converted from a vase and has the associated factors concerning that such as a drilled hole through the base. There is a small hairline crack to the rim of approx. 2cm long. Otherwise good with light wear to the shade and base.
Chinese Millifleur porcelain vase, Republic period, blue archaic style handles applied on a body of polychrome peonies, chrysanthemums and other flowers on a gilt background, interior of a Celadon colour glaze, fixed to hardwood base, H38cm. The vase has been glued to its wooden base, so the base mark is not available to view, light wear throughout. There is some gilding and paint losses with white spots in places.
The Cover, Neptune with brass trident astride a dolphin, from the massive Doulton Crown Lambeth Faienco Chicago Exhibition vase 1890-1893. The only other complete vase by Henry Doulton rests at the Doulton Museum, Stoke on Trent. Some restoration. Both vases were made for exhibition in Chicago in 1893 and the Doulton display was described by Sir Philip Cunliffe-Owen, then director of the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington, as 'Henry Doulton's greatest triumph', H: 39 cm. A Chinese blue and white yenyen vase, 19th centuryDecorated with a prunus pattern on 'cracked ice' ground, between panelled borders and additionally decorated with shou symbols.46cm highProvenance:By repute, purchased from a dispersal sale at Badger Hall in the 1940s.Footnote:Badger Hall in Shropshire was re-built and extended in the 18th century, going on to house a fine collection of paintings, furniture and works of art. Its last residents, the Capel Cures', dynasty ended in 1937 and the house was eventually sold to a paper company and remained unoccupied until its eventual demolition in 1953. Between 1945 and 1952 there were at least two dispersal sales held, the first offering some 1,500 lots of antiques and works of art. It is likely that the present lot originates from that auction.Condition:Negligible signs of age. Some tiny fritting spots to the rim edge.
