A near pair of Chinese celadon baluster vases, 31cm high and an ovoid celadon vase, 22.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: 252:Ovoid vase looks good condition though we have been unable to remove the metal inset (lamp). The slightly smaller of the two similar vases has a significant rim chip, some has been glued back, some is missing. Otherwise fine.

Lot 254

A pair of Chinese blue and white floral bottle vases, Kangxi, of globe and shaft form, painted scrolling foliage, underglaze 'G' mark under, 20cm high/Note: A similar pair of vases were sold in the Gerson and Judith Leiber collection, Sotheby's, 20th March 2018, Lot 405. The distinctive G mark has been the subject of speculation. Thought by some to be the initial of a western client who commissioned the items, it has also been suggested that it is a D copied erroneously from Delftwares. A third suggestion is to view the character (when turned through 90 degrees) as the Persian letter ye. Perhaps these wares were produced for a Persian or Mughal Indian patron/see illustration CONDITION REPORT: The pair are generally in nice condition. Each has a few scattered dimples to the glaze. One has a small firing hole/flaw in the glaze by the 'G' mark. The same vase has a tiny black flaw to the rim of the neck.

A late 18th Century Chinese punch bowl decorated in the Queen Charlotte pattern, 26.5cm diameter on a carved wood stand and a Chinese famille rose cylinder vase converted as a lamp base, 35.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: The vase is without chips or cracks, only damage is the hole in the base. The bowl has a long hairline crack from rim and three minor rim chips.

A 19th Century walnut chair back settee, the two chair backs with shell and foliate carved top rails above solid vase splats, the drop-in seat and moulded rails on shell carved cabriole legs with claw and ball feet/see illustration CONDITION REPORT: This is not 18th Century. Back right hand leg broken. Upright splats noticeably scratched. Surviving legs all sound, claw feet badly scuffed. Frame throughout faded. Upholstered seat sagging, needlework faded. 105cm high, height of seat 45cm and depth of seat 60cm.
