AMENDMENT - CONFIRMED PEKING GLASS A fine Chinese carved White Nephrite Jade Rams head HU Vase, Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1912). The finely carved vase depicting a Recumbent Ram cover above shoulder level Rams Head loose ring handles. Each side of the flattened HU form vase body delicately carved in low relief with two of the "Four Gentlemen" Chinese symbols of Prunus and Orchids amongst a rocky outcrop. The white jade vase is raised on a flared and stepped oval foot. The elegant carving and use of space highlighting the lustrous quality of the natural white jade stone. (Condition Good - No cracks or chips, Minor black, white and russet inclusions within the translucent white stone), Height 14.5 cms, Width 11 cms (max). Notes: Prunus, Orchid, Bamboo and Chrysanthemum are known in Chinese culture collectively as the Four Gentlemen. They represent dignity, quietude, fortitude and simplicity, which in the Chinese tradition are the qualities every Chinese gentleman strives to attain.
