A Japanese Satsuma vase, Meiji period. With a pair of pierced handles, the tapering body painted with figures in a landscape beneath bamboo, height 25cm, width 10.5cm. Maurice Jenkins (1933-2022). North Cornwall collector. Maurice was a lifetime collector and started in the 1950s. He opened a shop in Liskeard in the 1970s called Canon Hill Antiques. He visited a number of Middle Eastern countries in his lifetime including Egypt in the late 1970's when his interest in Islamic and Asian antiques began. He was a man with an eye for quality and a love of antiques, history and travel who purchased privately and at auction over the decades. Over a lifetime of purchasing privately and at auction, he created an eclectic ensemble of collections reflecting his interests. He died a few weeks before his 90th birthday and was still buying until that time. No hairline cracks. Wear to the gilding but not serious. The makers mark on the base is worn.

A Chinese green-glazed 'Hunting Scene' pottery vase, Han Dynasty. (206 BC-220 AD) Of compressed globular form, with a central band depicting a hunting scene with mythical beasts, dragons, birds, and two masks with mock ring handles all in high relief, height 36.5cm, width 27cm.The lip of the vase shows wear, loss of glaze and some chips with some further glaze loss on the body of the piece. There is one area which shows a possible attempt at a previous repair, though any damage is not evident. Please see additional photograph.

Surmounted by a dog of fo and another to the base, height 28cm, width 10cm, depth 9cm.This decorative vase is showing some signs of its age, with a chip to the ear of the top dog of fo as well as the elbow and underneath the chin. The glaze has an unusual shimmer near the top of the vase, but this could be intentional. Some discolouration to the lower dog. Please view extra images.

There is some crazing beneath the rim of the vase, but otherwise excellent.

(5)The ginger jar and plate are in excellent condition. The other three vases all have chips to the rim - please view extra images, but are otherwise in good condition. The tallest vase previously was used as a lamp base with drilled hole for wire, meaning it would no longer hold water.
