A VERY INTERESTING MODERN BALUSTER VASE with a flared rim by William Turner & Co., Sheffield 1918; 8" (20.5 cms) high; 10.3 oz *Sold with two pieces of paper detailing that this vase was made form a special metal mixture ie. the silver was alloyed with equal parts of copper & cadmium and was spun up from one piece by a Mr. Slack who was a spinner with Messrs. James Dixon & Sons. The vase was given to E.A. Smith (who developed the alloy) by Harold Turner of Messrs. William Turner & Co., Sheffield, whose sponsor`s mark is on the piece.

Each vase signed E. Heider to side. Stunning gilded ground to scenes with beading. Elegant scrolled gilded designs over cobalt ground. Each holds lavender FD Vienna in sheild over Austria mark to bottom for Franz Dorfl. Circa the turn of the century. Each measures approx. 9 1/2" height x 4 1/8" diameter (24.1cm x 10.4cm). Total weight of 894 grams.
