* LILY M M MCDOUGALL (SCOTTISH 1875 - 1958), FLOWERS IN A BLUE VASE watercolour on paper, signed 52cm x 35cm Mounted, framed and under glass. Label verso: Aitken Dott and Co (The Scottish Gallery), 26 Castle Street, Edinburgh. Note: Born in Glasgow in 1875, Lily Martha Maud McDougall studied in Edinburgh and Antwerp, and later lived in Paris from 1900-4. She exhibited with the Society of Scottish Artists, as one of the first women to be permitted entry, and at the Glasgow Institute. She was best known for her still-life and flower studies in oil and watercolour. Ten of her paintings are held in Scottish public collections including Glasgow Museums, Gracefield, The Royal Scottish Academy, The City Art Centre (Edinburgh), Kirkcaldy Galleries and Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums.

Republic period, This lovely , unusual designed vase decorated with phoenix , double happiness and flower scrolls, is executed with a very sure hand. close to the rim we see a band of rui . Before the base, there is a band of decorated lotus petals. Qianlong reign mark at the base, but probably of a later making. Size 17x17 cm

A pair of antique Chinese beautiful, well carved cinnabar vases. Republic period. The gourd shaped vases are carved out of natural cinnabar. The body of the vase is made of enameled and gilded bronze. One , top part portraying a teacher and a disciple, on both sides, walking in the garden. bottom part, on one side depicting 2 scholars playing chess, on the other side, a sage with a disciple, crossing a bridge. The other vase , at the top, the disciple pointing at the rocks to his teacher, on the other side, the disciple is carrying a musical instrument and talking with his teacher. At the bottom part, sage and disciple walking in the garden. The other side depicting 2 young scholars playing chess. Size each 31.5x14 cm

An outstanding, antique, Chinese, delicate, silk painting. Late 18th -or early 19th sent. The details of this painting are amazing. We can see, clearly, the beautiful 3 cranes on the upper part body of the blue vase, the 2 hares at the bottom. The flowers in the vase are depicted with utmost care. The lower planter resting on a 3 root stand. Depicting gold fish in a pond, the blue brush pot at the lower central part the painting, depicting a squirrel in a pine tree with several scrolls. Size net 28x19 cm.

Lot 49

an outstanding, antique chinese, 18th cent. "robin egg" glaze Meiping vase. The glaze is thick, the body very heavy, the top of the vase has a lite creamy brown glaze, at the base, inside the base ring, a thick creamy crackled glaze, typical of the period. it seems as if the unglazed ring of the base itself was slightly treated to secure stability. all in all in wonderful condition. size 23x12 cm

Lot 50

a fine, antique, Chinese, sang de boeuf vase. Late 18th or early 19th cent. This lovely, Qing dyn. vase is well potted, very thick glaze. The glaze at the foot of the base was filed. The inside of the base ring has a fine thick creamy glaze. Close to the top is a small , fine hairline crack, caused at the firing. Various signs of wear and scratches due to age. Size 12x6 cm.

an antique, Chinese, lovely, blue and white vase or jar. Qing dyn. Portraying beautiful serene landscape of islands and hamlets along a body of water. One, lone fisherman on a boat. Signs of wear, that are expected with age. A porcelain top , probably, missing. a lovely, wooden top broken. a fine old wooden base included. size 30x17 cmthere is a very thin hairline crack that lightly can be seen from the inside .

an antique, wonderful, Chinese, blue and white vase, depicting a dragon chasing the flaming pearl. Cheng Hua reign mark of the Ming dyn. at the base, but this vase is of later making. Two small fractures to the rim, a heir line crack, going 7 cm down to the body of the dragon. size 34.5x19 cm.

First one a tall vase with archaic design, displaying 2 big taotoie mask on each side. At the sides lower part depicting rui with rings. At the top 2 dragons with rings. The lid displaying a lion and 2 rui with rungs. 1 ring was brocken and fixed. With a wooden base. 1- size net 20x13 cm. 2- a celadon colored jade censer portraying 3 legs with lions face at the top. at the top 2 lion heads with rings. the lid displaying a ferocious lion. size 12.5x13 cm. 3- a jade pot in archaic design, spinach colored jade with phoenix design on each side. hair line crack at the top. size 16.5x13.5 cm.

An outstanding , rare, Japanese Satsuma, depicting Buddhist monks. Meiji period. This Satsuma is carrying the Shimazu family crest from Kagoshima and probably created by Riyozan. Each medallion of the 4 sides depicting 11 or 12 Buddhist monks clad in gorgeous robes. At the head of every and each monk delicately portrait . There is halo. At the top of the vase we see the cross signifying the crest of the Shimazu family as well as the chrysanthemum , signifying the Imperial family and 2 other important family crests. An outstanding piece. Size 14.2x7.5 cm
