A rare Vincennes bleu-lapis-ground miniature vase (Vase Parseval) circa 1755 of campana form on a domed foot with a knopped stem each side reserved with a finely painted landscape scene in a soft palette probably by Pierre-Francois Yvernel depicting a figure and buildings by a river within a gilt floral scrollwork border gilt dentil border to rim and continuous band of flowering foliage to the foot interlaced LL monogram enclosing date letter c and painter's mark y in blue incised 3 9cm 3.5in. Falconet the amorous young man leaning forward to embrace the lady seated by a vase of flowers incised B to top of base 20.5cm. 8in. three fingers of her left hand broken off some further minor chips Based on the characters of Jacquot a young florist and Colette from the ballad opera by Favart titled La fete du chateau which was first performed at the Theatre des Italiens in Spetember 1766. The model was executed by Falconet the same year and cost 144 livres.
