* LADY LUCINDA L MACKAY (SCOTTISH b. 1941), FLUTE VASE MEDLEY oil on canvas, signed, titled label versoframedimage size 63cm x 76cm, overall size 74cm x 86cm Note: Born in Berkshire, Mackay was brought up in Scotland and educated in Switzerland. She trained at Edinburgh College of Art under William Gillies, graduating in 1965, and undertook postgraduate studies at the Central School of Art, London in 1973. Alongside her career as a professional artist, painting portraits, landscapes and still-life and exhibiting widely, Mackay has worked as a teacher of art, design and ceramics. Her paintings are characterised by bold brushwork and vibrant colours. Mackay lives in Edinburgh. Nine of Lucinda Mackay's works are held in UK public collections including The National Galleries of Scotland.
An ash and elm Windsor armchair. Circa 1900, with pierced vase splat, shaped solid seat and raised on cabriole front legs with a crinoline stretcher, height 101cm, width 57cm, depth 48cm.All joints are solid and firm with little movement, evidence of repairs and refinishing throughout, small chips and cracks commensurate with age. The vase has been broken and glued in two parts, with a few associated losses, there is a small chip on the foot, please see the additional images.
A late 18th century Dutch elm marquetry side chair. The shell shaped tops above vase splat back with scrolling supports above serpentine drop in seat on cabriole legs and claw and ball feet, decorated throughout with inlay flowers, foliage, an urn and a bird of paradise, height 111cm.The chair has a very slight movement on the back, but is sturdy and useable.There are several veneer losses throughout, and a split is visible near the top of the splat.The legs have been strengthened with screws through the seat rail, there has been a repair to the top rail and there is a loss on one foot, and a rear spandrel, please see the extra images.
