A collection of Royal Worcester Evesham pattern dinner ware to include a pair of biscuit barrels with covers, 7¾in. (19.7cm.) high, twin handled pot and cover, four bowls, four dinner plates and four side plates, together with a Royal Worcester Arden pattern vase and a large Portmerion tureen and cover. (17)
A pair of Samson of Paris armorial baluster vases and covers 19th century, painted in famille rose enamels with the arms of the Howard family and the motto 'Sola Virtus Invicta', the domed covers with pointed finials, the vases and covers with reticulated panels, iron red pseudo seal marks to base, 17¾ inches high (45cm), one lid broken. (2) * Cover of one of the vases has been thoroughly smashed. The pieces have been retained. General wear, dirt and rubbing commensurate with age. Chip to underside of the other vase cover. Sporadic minor firing cracks to bases. Significant chip/loss to one of the bases that has been rather clumsily reattached. Odd nibble to rims. For further information please refer to department.
After Eugène Henri Cauchois (French, 1850-1911) Still life of poppies and daisies in a teal vase, together with four further still life examples and one snowbound landscape by the same hand, oil on panel, all indistinctly signed, 6 x 5¼in. (15.5cm x 13.5cm.) and 5¼ inches x 6¼in. (13.5cm x 16cm) respectively (6) * All works are in a broadly comparable state of preservation. The odd knock, scuff and mark to surface. General surface dirt and discoloured varnish. Frame rubbing to edges. Deterioration to varnish has given a chalky effect to several of the works.
A fine Japanese twin handled bronze vase by Momose Shigesato (Japanese, 19th Century) Meiji period, signed with a seal mark, the cylindrical body cast in high relief, one panel depicting cranes, the other sparring figures, the handles cast as flowering cherry trees, the square base held by four supports cast as cherry trees, 27½ inches high (70cm) * Two comparable works by Shigesato can be found in the collection of the Walters Art Museum, accession numbers 54.1616 and 54.1617
A very large Doulton Stoneware vase by Mark Marshall, incised marks MVM 408 plus a variety of other marks to base. Possibly a trial or exhibition piece, incised no.23c, no3, chocl on OW, 1493 M, and further initials BH. Circular Doulton Lambeth mark struck through and replaced with a different oblong Doulton England shaped mark. Measures 44cm high.
19th century Coalport pair of two handled vases, gilded all over & decorated with panels of Windsor & Warwick castles by J.H. Plant, h.39cm, Windsor vase has good restoration to neck area, Warwick vase has very slight gilding wear to reverse of handle, both vases have loose bolt stems. (2)
