Gilded silver bonbonniere with a lid, a case with a slotted frieze decorated with images of lyres and women in classical robes, a three-faced pommel with acanthus leaves and an engraved noble coat of arms at the bottom, handles are made in the form of dragons. Hallmarks: Axel Hedlund (master 1799), assay master Alexander Ilyich Yachinov (1795-1826), St. Petersburg city hallmark, 84 assay. Weight 1094. Height 18 cm. W. 23 cm. Hedlund Axel (born in 1764 in Norway, where he probably studied, died in 1833), in 1799 a master in St. Petersburg, in a foreign workshop, in 1816 an alderman; an outstanding master, who carried out many orders for the Russian Imperial Court, had 9 students. After his death, his widow continued the business until 1839. The stamp is rectangular in shape with the image of the initials of the master in three English letters connected to each other - AHL. Oval fruit vase, cut crystal in a silver frame, with two geometric silver handles. Laconic and austere silver, made in the spirit of late modernism, correlates well with the fabulous four-petal crystal ornament and the x-shaped flash motif. Hallmarks: F. LAURIER in Cyrillic, 84 silver standard next to a female head in a kokoshnik, turned to the left. Moscow sample of silver 1899-1908. Assay master Ivan Lebedkin. Length 43.5 cm. Total weight: 2837 gr. The well-known Moscow firm Laurier was founded in 1871. Fedor Antonovich Lorie from 1858 to 1920 owned a jewelry and silver factory. In 1895, he opened a jewelry store at Kuznetsky Most 4, across the wall from the Faberge store. The company produced silverware, household and interior items, various crystal frames and jewelry. The casting and embossing technique is used with the highest degree of skill, combined with the effects of a stamped ornament. This real vase is believed to be one of a pair mentioned in catalog No. 534: Two vases, blue and gilded, decorated with cupids in medallions. Unter dem Stand Prägestempel «MADOURA PLEIN FEU» und «EDITION PICASSO» sowie handschriftlich bez. «EDITION PICASSO MADOURA».H. 37,5, D. 26,5 cm.Werk aus einer Auflage von 400 Exemplaren. Edition Madoura, Vallauris.1946 experimentierte Picasso erstmalig im Atelier Madoura von Suzanne und Georges Ramié mit Ton und arbeitete von da an mit großer Energie mit dem neuen Werkstoff. Die Form der Objekte bildet dabei meist die Grundlage für die Ausgestaltung und spätere Bemalung. So formt er bei der «Vase a deux anses hautes» mit erstaunlicher Präzision eine Vase zu einem menschlichen Körper, mit Henkeln, die zu Armen werden. Zusammen mit einer in der Form identischen Vase (Ramié 213) wird diese Tonplastik häufig als «König und Königin» bezeichnet. Die üppig gebauchten Vasenkorpusse aus der Hochphase von Picassos Keramikarbeiten dienen hier als Gestaltungsfläche eines männlichen und weiblichen Körpers, die Picasso als zwei phantasievolle Gegenstücke entworfen hat.
