A pair of early Georgian walnut side chairs, second quarter 18th century, each with slightly scrolled cresting rail above the vertical splat with shaped solid vase, drop in seat and cabriole legs terminating in pad feetCondition Report: Both chairs with marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various old chips and splits. Evidence of old worm throughout both chairs. Upholstery of drop in seats in generally good condition overall with just some minor wear. Various old veneer repairs with sections re-stuck and areas of replacement. Chair One-Both rear feet re-tipped/ replaced. Later corner brackets to the back of the seat rails. Three of the 'ears' of the legs are replaced Peg and filler repair made back seat rail. Old repairs where top rail meets uprights and splat. Chair Two- All feet re-tipped/replaced. A group of eleven cushions, comprising; two pairs of similar velvet and braid applied circular cushions, each 38cm diameter, another smaller similar, 30cm diameter, two with French Aubusson style panels, each with a vase of flowers, 55cm and 48cm long respectively, an oval velvet and tapestry cushion, 53 x 44cm, a further tapestry cushion, 40 x 31cm, and two satin backed boteh decorated cushions, one 34cm square, the other 27cm diameter (11)Condition Report: Overall all the cushions with signs of wear from age and use, the oval tapestry cushion with old holes and rips and some repairs. The rectangular tapestry cushion also with old holes and colour variation to the field where repair appears to have happened. the Aubusson panel cushions with old splits and pulls, the of the four circular velvet cushions one has some more pronounced holes. the two satin backed cushions do not appear to posses much age. (2)Provenance: By direct descent from Lady Enid Doreen Scudamore-Stanhope Browne (1899-1985), daughter of The Hon. Evelyn Theodore Scudamore-Stanhope and Julia Dasha Potter. Lady Enid was granddaughter of Henry Edwyn Chandos Scudamore-Stanhope, 9th Earl of Chesterfield and sister to Edward Henry Scudamore-Stanhope, the 12th and last Earl of Chesterfield, born on 9 February 1889. In December 1926 she married, Major Alexander Browne of Callaly Castle, Northumberland. The family homes included Beningbrough Hall, York and Holme Lacy, Herefordshire.Condition Report: Craquelure, flaking and cupping throughout with extensive associated loss. Stretcher marks visible. Canvas is slack. A dent to the lower right corner of the piece with the bowl of fruit. Inspection under UV reveals extensive retouching and repairs throughout. Condition Report Disclaimer

Bidding for the vase started at ten guineas and went by easy stages to sixteen guineas, at which price it was purchased by Mr Wilson, a sidesman at St Saviour's Church'.Interestingly, it would equate to nearly £1000 in today's money.Condition report: Vase good overall condition. No chips or restoration.

Paolo Staccioli (Italian, b.1943),a large Italian earthenware bottle vase, decorated with horses and Trojan horses, on a turquoise and copper lustre, the neck with a gold glaze, signed and dated '98, 51cm highPaolo Staccioli began his career as a painter in the 1970s, becoming interested in ceramics in the 1990s, when he decided to open his own workshop and explore different approaches to fire glazing and copper oxides. His compositions are dominated by accumulation and variation of themes where warriors, travellers and horses are recurrent characters. The elongated figures are reduced to the essential and seem fixed in a dimension outside of time in which they appear motionless.
