BY CHRISTOPHER NIGEL LAWRENCE: A large modern parcelgilt, revolving table centrepiece fitted with six removable hors d`oeuvres dishes, a rose bowl with grille, a flower vase also with grille and a six light candelabrum with detachable nozzles, the sides decorated with bands of texturing, hallmarked, London 1970; 24.7" (62.5 cms) diameter; 9.3" (23.7 cms) high; 356 oz *This centrepiece and another example not too dissimilar were entered by Christopher Lawrence in the silver section of the Jacques Cartier competition at Goldsmiths Hall in early 1971. The two centrepieces won joint first prize. Lawrence actually won the highly coveted Jacques Cartier award three times in all and became ineligible to be chosen again for it. This centrepiece was purchased by the vendors from Watches of Switzerland in June 1971 for £4,000 after they saw it and fell in love with it at an Exhibition in Bournemouth.
