A late 19th / early 20th Century Chinese famille rose vase and cover with lion mask handles, a 19th Century Chinese famille rose cylindrical pot and cover, and a Chinese porcelain crackware vase and cover decorated with figures on horseback (3)

Lot 75

A collection of Shelley pottery wares with dripware and concentric circle decoration etc, to include two cruet sets, toast rack, ash trays, small dish and stand, together with a Shelley vase decorated in the Oriental manner with stork on an orange ground and a matching pot and cover, and a Clarice Cliff style pottery flower holder in the form of a rock (13) CONDITION REPORTS Green cruet, the salt has a crack running top to base. Toast rack is showing signs of significant flaking to the paint work. On the edge there is bubbling to the paint work. Orange square ashtray with lid has star crack to lid and is discoloured inside. All items have significant wear, scratches etc to the paint work, conducive with use and manufacturing techniques. All in need of a good clean. See images for more details.

Lot 78

A collection of Shelley pottery jugs and vases, to include four jugs with concentric circle decoration, a dripware decorated jug in orange and green, a similarly decorated vase, a dripware decorated vase in blue and yellow, and a dripware decorated vase in yellow, brown and green (8) CONDITION REPORTS Orange bulbous jug - approx 22 cms height. Large onion shaped orange jug is approximately 23 cms in height. Has a crack approximately 5 cms running from the base of the handle upwards. Green onion shaped jug measures approximately 23 cms high. Small orange and brown jug is approximately 19.5 cms high. Orange and green 8 sided jug is approximately 18.5 cms high. Blue and yellow onion shaped vase is approximately 25 cms high. rim has a significant break and repair approximately 10 cms in length and 10 cms in depth along the rim. 2 x bulbous vases measure approximately 19 cms high. The orange, yellow, green and brown coloured vase has significant cracular to the top paint work and already showing areas of flaking. All pieces have scratches, loss of paint work etc conducive with age and manufacturing technique. All are very dirty and require cleaning, including what appears to be limescale marks on the outside. There are various firing faults all over. See images for more details.

Large blue and green vase 23 cms in height. Orange and grey vase 20 cms in height. Orange and grey 16 cms in height as per the orange and green vase. The orange and grey vase is15.5 cms high. All measurements approximate.

Green and brown vase measures 19 cm in height. Green and brown ribbed vase 20 cm in height. Showing signs crazing to the glaze. All measurements approximate. All vases have scratches, knocks, flaking to paint work conducive to age and manufacturing techniques. Green and brown taller bulbous vase, especially. Four Shelley pottery vases of bulbous form with ribbed bodies decorated in orange and yellow, together with a collection of Shelley pottery jugs with dripware and graduated banding decoration (10) CONDITION REPORTS Large mushroom shaped vase measures approximately 20.5 cm and has a 3 cm crack running form the rim downwards. Second mushroom shaped vase measures 16.5 cm and has two crazing cracks to base. Third mushroom shaped vase is approximately 16 cm high appears to have had some repainting and possibly restoration around the rim. There appears to be a small crack approx 1 cm from the rim down with the repainting around that area. The smaller mushroom shaped vase is 13 cm high. Ribbed jug 20.5 cm high. Orange jug with bulbous base measures 19 cm high. Green and blue bulbous based jug measures 14.5 cm. It has areas of white wear, painting has been missed around handle and at the base of the jug before the rim. all measurements approximate. See images for details. Orange and cream bellied jug measures 13 cm high. It has a crack to the foot of the jug measuring 2.5 cm in length - see images. Blue and yellow bellied jug measures approximately 11 cm in height. Areas of white unpainted pottery at the base of jug before foot. Blue and green bellied jug 8cm in height. All have scratches, flaking, peeling paint to the paint work conducive with age, use and manufacturing technique. All are dirty and in need of a good clean. All measurements approximate. (5) Condition report Report by GH Chinese famille porcelain charger: There is a large repaired broken off piece to one side of the piece, with an 8 cm radius, on the opposite side there is a large rim chip and there are various smaller rim chips in other places. Pair of Vases: One vase has a major rim chip/damage, and a hairline crack running down almost the entire length of the vase, which is visible both internally and externally. Its pair is in better condition but with visible restorations, rim chips and general wear and tear. The pair of spelter figures present reasonably well but one of the two has its hand's broken off, however we do still have the hand, so this could repaired, otherwise no obvious damages.
