Cf. Maurice Hillis, Liverpool Porcelain 1756-1804, fig.4.12 for an identical example. Provenance: from a private collection in Surrey.

A good Bristol delftware octagonal tea canister, c.1760, the wider concave sides painted in blue with a standing chinoiserie figure carrying a scroll or vase, the narrower sides with rococo foliate scrolls, between flat diaper panels, 11cm. Cf. Anthony Ray, English Delftware Pottery in the Robert Hall Warren Collection, pls.52 and 53 for similar examples with figural decoration.
