BRUSH WASHER IS 13CM DIAMETER AND NOT 30CM An Oriental group of three comprising a 20th century glazed pottery fruit bowl (probably Japanese) decorated in a flowing naive style with trees and shrubs etc., impressed seal mark to underside; a Chinese duck-egg-blue glazed ceramic bottle-vase having tapering neck and ovoid body; a 19th century Chinese porcelain brush-washer/small dish, brightly hand-decorated in enamels with mythical beasts, brocade balls and stylised flower heads etc., within a yellow border and base, on short circular foot (hairline and restorations to brush washer). (The bowl 19.5cm in diameter, the vase 15.5cm high and the brush washer 30cm in diameter.)
A 19th century Chinese porcelain baluster-shaped vase; hand-decorated in underglaze blue with three butterflies to the interior of the short waisted neck above flowers amongst rockwork etc., 30cm high CONDITION REPORT: The item appears to be in good original condition with no cracks, chips, restorations or hairlines noted.
A small early 20th century Chinese Satsuma vase and cover; very finely gilded and decorated with a lappet border around the shoulder, the baluster-shaped body with two vignettes of courtesans and two vertical panels of chrysanthemum, flower heads etc.; gilded and painted seal mark to underside; circular wooden stand, 8cm high CONDITION REPORT: There is a little gilt rubbing at the top of the lip of the jar and some glaze crazing to be expected commensurate with age and there is some gilt rubbing to the edge of the lip of the cover. Everything else appears to be in good order with no cracks, chips or reparations noted.
A Chinese Song Dynasty greenware Ru ware type ceramic bottle vase of small proportions; waisted neck above a baluster body and circular foot with three stilt marks visible to the underside CONDITION REPORT: Some minor glaze crazing and the colour of the glaze appears slightly different around the top of the lip although no restoration is noted. The underside of the foot has the stilt marks 93) and looking closely there appears to be a slight unglazed area right along the bottom of the outside of the foot. There are some minor colour deviances which appear as slight blemishes etc. Overall it looks to be in good general overall original condition with no restoration noted.
A small Chinese porcelain group to include: two late-19th century Kangxi-style blue-and-white vases (no covers), a smaller double gourd style vase decorated with dragons, a Canton bowl and a Canton cup (no handle), (5 items) CONDITION REPORT: The largest vas is 18cm, generally good overall original condition with no problems, chips, cracks or restoration noted. The second largest is 14cm high, also appears to be in good overall original condition with no chips, hairlines or restoration noted. The third vase is double gourd shaped is 10.5cm high, appears to be in good general overall original condition with no problems noted.
A pair of early 20th Century Japanese satsuma pottery vases of baluster section, each finely hand gilded and decorated with scenes of Mount Fuji and pagodas upon rocky ground with flowering trees and shrubs before water, each vase with central circular red four character mark to underside, one vase with Sotheby's labels to underside, 25cm high CONDITION REPORT: The vase with the lot number exhibits some glaze crazing as is usual. There are on the bottom and underside two Sotheby's labels. Gilding is very worn around the edge of the top lip. General decoration to baluster body is quite good and the gilding seems to be good to the body. Some darkening and marking to the inside of the lip otherwise no restoration, cracks, chips or major problems noted. The companion vase exhibits similar gilt rubbing to the edge of the lip. Glaze crazing as expected with Satsuma. Slight discolouration to the lip as you look from the outside onto the inside. Colouration is good and bright. Gilding is good to the body generally with some extremities rubbed etc., as per the decoration in relief. Again no cracks, chips or restoration noted.
A large and heavy cut glass vase of inverted conical form, raised on a circular foot with star-cut base, 25.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: This is very heavy. The rim appears to be without flaws or fault. The main body looks good with nice deep crisp engraving. The underside also looks good with minor scratching to the edge of the circular foot. Otherwise no problems noted.
A fine glass vase engraved with holly leaves, berries etc.and raised on a circular spreading foot; together with one other similar sized vase of inverted bell shape (2), the latter 25.5cm high (2) CONDITION REPORT: The large glass with the lot number on is in good general overall order with no major problems noted. Some scratching and marking as expected towards the edge of the foot commensurate with age. The slightly smaller glass engraved with holly etc. This appears to be in good general overall order except for a half match head sized chip to the underside of the foot.
