Bulb vase with flat sides. Glazed in tan, brown, blue and green finish. Artist initials RR to bottom base. Ron spent several high school years living and studying in Europe. Though nobody in the family can remember where he studied pottery his works are inspired by Jacques Pouchain (his mother was a rabid collector) and in the mid 1970€™s Ron opened a pottery studio in Brookline Massachusetts. He made his living selling his art and teaching lessons through 1980 when he was drawn away to work on a political campaign. The remainder of his life was spent in politics though a kick wheel and kiln remained in his basement when his first national political campaign landed him in Washington DC. A period scrap book dated March 1876 on the verso and adorned with embossed Santa Claus figures in four phases from making toys to coming down the chimney, to placing gifts in a stocking, and finally relaxing with his pipe after the tour. Santa is surrounded by gilded holly leaves with berries. Nine blank leaves fill out the inside with every other one having a large colorful paper die cut rose tipped in. The spine has an elaborately detailed depiction of flowers in a vase and geometric symbols, more flowers, and a what looks at the top a curtain. The back cover has an impressed design of a bundle of ribbon and three tassels all bound together. Inside the front cover is the provenance of the original owner written in as MC, Hinneville, Oregon and below printed as such. Presented to C.E. Hadson by his mother, in three lines, Dec 25, 1883. Approximate Dimensions:h. 11.75, w. 9.25"Condition:There is some light wear to the spine, crown, and foot as well as on the front cover, particularly at the corners.
