A carved amber block pierced at the lower corner, showing a female face in profile, the features showing some resemblance to those of archaic Greek korai sculptures and of women depicted in sixth-century vase painting; the piece possibly of Greek workmanship; probably originally part of a larger piece; with the characteristic dark patina of ancient amber. 19 grams, 54 mm (2 1/4").
