A Wright & Butler cast iron oil lamp, late 19th century, of vase form with leaf moulded stylised foliate decoration and scroll capped handle and with wrythen moulded tinted shade. Height excluding chimney 55.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The glass chimney has only the slightest of tiny nibbles on its base. The shade has only the very slightest of nibbles on its interior base rim. The glass reservoir is in good order. The fitting for the lamp is polished brass but it is stamped for Wright & Butler, Birmingham. The main body is an oxidised copper but on the high points on one handle the copper has come through and on the top band of the main vase body the copper is showing throughout. There is a very tiny hole half way down the side of one handle but I believe this to be a manufacture fault rather than later damage.
A Japanese cast iron onion shaped vase, Meiji period, applied with kudzu leaves and pods, with bronze patina. Height 31 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a 5 cm x 3.5 cm oval blemish beneath the leaves at the bottom of the vase. There are no signs of anything being attached to this blemish it may just be patch of discolouration. Other than this we cannot see any obvious faults or flaws. CONDITION REPORT: Each vase has some surface marks and scratches though nothing to off putting. A Japanese Cloisonne pot and cover, Meiji period, trefoil shape with geometric collar, the shoulder with dragons against a blue and aventurine ground above bladed panels with phoenix, the underside with a dragon and with three short feet, height 11 cm, and a small Cloisonne vase with quatrefoil top above a melon form body decorated with floral scrolls, height 9 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The enamel on the ball knop is 60% missing and has raised wires. The lid to which the ball knop is attached is in good order. Under a jewellers loop the bladed panels on the shoulder are outlined in silver and this metal is slightly uneven on some panels. However I emphasise that this is only as viewed under close scrutiny. To the naked eye there appear to be no fissures, hairline cracks, crazing, dents or chips visible. With the exception of the ball knop this piece appears to be intact. The small melon form vase that accompanies this piece also appears to be in good condition with no obvious faults.
A Chinese bronze and enamel archaic form vase, 19th century, the neck applied with stylised handles and with enamel characters for Fu, Lu and Shou above relief moulded bands of spuming waves and scales and with beast masks, the central enamel band of cash above honeycomb, on raised circular foot and with four charter marks to base "Wan Shou Wu Jiang" (longevity forever). Height 30 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The Cloisonné enamel is rather pitted and dirty looking. There are very small knocks to the Cloisonné but nothing of any great significance. The body appears to be in good order and free from dents and splits. The foot rim is a slightly more reddish colour and lighter than the main body. One handle is firmly attached whilst the other is detached from the bottom although still attached at the top.
A needlework pictorial and verse sampler, worked by Mary Jubb 1815, with verse "In All Misfortunes this Advantage Lies ...", large country house, the door worked "Jubb", flanked by pine trees with birds all above a large flowering vase flanked by a dog with a cow, butterflies and birds within a Vitruvian scroll border. 41.5 cm x 31.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There is some slight bleeding of colours which will be visible in the images. There appears to be a reworked patch to the left of the left hand side tree above the lower bird and also to the right of the same tree almost directly opposite at the corner of the house and also slightly further down near the second branch. A further repair patch appears to the base of the right hand side tree at the base between it and the left hand side shrub. There are further repair patches beneath the house flanking the central floral vase and to the base of the floral vase left hand side and to the left hand side leaves. There is also a repaired patch to the right hand side of the text at the top between the bird and the scrolling border. The frame appears to be within the last 30 years, it is pine and it has small knocks but is solidly constructed.

CONDITION REPORT: The gilding on the exterior of the rim has been worn around the high points. A Japanese Imari dish, circa 1880, of square form with shaped sides and decorated with vase of peonies and blossoming plum branches, with phoenix, dragon and cranes bordered by panels of phoenix and flowering landscapes. 45.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The gilding to the rim is 60% erased. There is a firing flaw in the top left hand corner (near the flying crane). The colours on the phoenix tail (bottom right hand corner) are faded. There is a firing blemish the size of a small fingernail directly above the phoenix head. There is a further firing blemish the size of half a small fingernail to the left hand side of the main decoration (at 9 o'clock) there is a further firing blemish again the size of half a small fingernail in the right hand edge of the main decoration (if on a clock face then a 3 o'clock). There is a further firing blemish the size of a small fingernail at the base of the main decoration on the table edge (at 6 o'clock). Otherwise the majority of the enamels and gilding are in good order and in my opinion this is a rather impressive looking dish. All faults are factory production faults and there are no post production chips, cracks or restoration. The dish rings out nicely. There are small surface marks throughout. On the underside the under glaze blue decoration has bleed on each side making the decoration rather blurred and blotchy.
