A LARGE CHINESE ENAMELLED 'WINTER LANDSCAPE' VASE 20TH CENTURY Painted with a continuous scene depicting figures and buildings in a snowy landscape, inscribed with a poem describing the setting, dated autumn of the dingmao year corresponding to 1927, with a signature reading Gong Linsheng, the shoulder and foot enamelled with bands of blue repeating designs, with two applied handles suspending loose rings to the neck, with ruyi-heads and strings of beads holding bats, shou characters and pendants encircling the rim, the base with a four character Qianlong mark, 41.6cm.

A CHINESE WUCAI GOURD-SHAPED VASE TRANSITIONAL C.1640 Painted with three lion dogs picked out in aubergine, amber and green enamel, the beasts surrounded by large peony blooms growing from leafy branches, with stylised red lappets to the central section, the neck decorated with scrolling lotus, 21cm.

A CHINESE WUCAI 'FISH' BALUSTER VASE 17TH CENTURY Painted with four large cartouches enclosing a mackerel, whitefish, carp and freshwater perch surrounded by leafy sprays, the panels divided by ruyi-heads decorated with geometric designs, all reserved on an iron-red diaper ground, with scrolling lotus blooms to the short neck, 28.5cm. The Chinese names of these four fish form the rebus qingbai lianjie, which may be translated as 'pure and incorruptible'. This expresses the wish for scholars to maintain high ethical standards and meet great success.

A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE BUDDHIST ALTAR ORNAMENT PROBABLY REPUBLIC PERIOD One from a set of the Seven Royal Treasures, formed as an elephant standing upon an elaborate pedestal painted with lotus flowers and lappets, raised on a tall stem pierced with foliate scrolls and a flowing ribbon, the domed base painted with iron-red dragons and bats, with a six character Qianlong mark to the base, the elephant missing the vase from its back, 23.2cm. Cf. Christie's New York, 18th March 2021, lot 720 for two comparable Qianlong mark and period altar ornaments depicting the Queen and Minister.

A ROMAN GLASS VASE AND A PERSIAN POTTERY BOTTLE VASE C.2ND AND C.14TH CENTURY The Roman vase rising from an ovoid body to a narrow cylindrical neck which flares at the rim, with iridescence to the exterior, the Persian vase with a pear-shaped body surmounted by a tall flaring neck, decorated in blue and black with stylised patterns, 14.5cm and 23cm. A CHINESE CELADON JADE CONJOINED VASE AND A WHITE JADE BRUSH HOLDER LATE QING DYNASTY/REPUBLIC PERIOD The conjoined vase carved as a cylindrical vessel attached to a flattened two-handled vase raised on a flared foot, the cylindrical body decorated with an elephant beneath a plantain tree, the greyish stone with russet inclusions, the body of the white brush holder formed as bamboo, decorated in relief with an insect, frog and crane in a rocky landscape amidst pine and lingzhi, the pale greyish-white stone with some black flecks and russet markings, each together with a wood stand, 17.5cm and 14.3cm. (4) Provenance: formerly a private collection, London, formed c.1959-1963. Both purchased from Chuen Koo Chai Dealers in Ancient Chinese Arts & Curio, Hong Kong. The conjoined vase purchased on 16th November 1955. The white brush holder acquired on 4th December 1963. Copies of the invoices are available. A certificate of identity for the white brush holder dated 6th December 1963 from The Curios, Furniture & Miscellaneous Utensils & Hardware Merchants & Employees Association, Hong Kong & Kowloon, is also available. A COLLECTION OF CHINESE CELADON ITEMS MING DYNASTY AND LATER Comprising: seven small jars, an ovoid vase, a small tripod incense burner, three small circular dishes, three 'twin-fish' bowls, a cup stand, a large Ge-type dish, and eight other bowls, some with moulded or incised decoration, together with twenty-five wood stands and various invoices dated between 1968 to 1979, the majority of invoices from Luen Chai Curios Store, Hong Kong, 30cm max. (50) Provenance: from the collection of Mary Colinet (née Skiotis), and thence by descent. Mary Colinet was born in Beijing on 20th August 1928. She married her husband Paul Colinet in Tianjin in September 1947 and later left Tianjin for France in 1953. Mary collected Chinese art and antiques, particularly during the period between 1964 and 1975 when she lived in Hong Kong. Mary spoke Greek as her first language and was also proficient in Mandarin, English and French.
