Loretta Hui-shan Yang or Yang Huishan - A pate de verre case glass vase of amber colour, of irregular cylindrical form cast with Guan Yin appearing from a rockface, 23.5cm; together with a signed copy of an exhibition catalogue of the artists work held in 1999. Provenance: Purchased from the artist. **Loretta H. Yang is the pioneering artist behind contemporary Chinese liuli glass. She has devoted her life to the art of liuli for close to three decades and, in the process, has revived the ancient Chinese technique of pâte de verre lost wax casting and instigated the contemporary glass art movement in Asia. Yang creates sculptured work in glass which are richly imbued with a traditional Chinese artistic vocabulary and human philosophy. Her works have been acquired for the permanent collections of renowned museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Palace Museum at the Forbidden City in Beijing, the New York Museum of Arts and Design in New York City, and The Corning Museum of Glass.
