Lot 872

A pair of 19th century Chinese porcelain sleeve vases painted in underglaze blue with two opposing panels depicting a chrysanthemum in a vase on jardinière stand, with fruit and scrolls in the background, on blue blossoming prunus decorated ground, each bearing a Kangxi mark to base, height 26cm. CONDITION REPORT: One of the vases has got a chip to the rim, approx 1cm. The other vase has a larger chip along the rim approx 3.5cm. Both have staining to the surface and some areas of firing imperfections.

A near pair of 19th century Canton baluster vases with flared rims, each decorated with two opposing figural panels alternating with a panel depicting a bird and butterfly amongst foliate and floral motifs, with twin handles modelled as temple lions above two opposing pairs of lizards to the shoulders, height 26cm. CONDITION REPORT: Both have an area of chips to the flared rim. The slightly smaller vase has an area of major modelling/firing imperfection, also one of the lizards has a loss to its feet. Also a major rubbing to the applied animals. Both vases also have an area of scratches to the surface and losses to the enamel.

A large late 19th/early 20th century Chinese baluster vase with flared rim, painted in underglaze blue with continuous coastal village landscape, unmarked, height 40cm. CONDITION REPORT: Some blemishes to the glaze but no damages, chips or cracks.

Lot 883

An opposing pair of 20th century Chinese blanc de chine figures of Guanyin, height 30.5cm, an early 20th century cloisonné cylindrical box and cover decorated with three floral panels on fish scale ground, height 9.5cm, a later baluster vase, and a lacquered goblet decorated with a dragon chasing a pearl of wisdom (5). CONDITION REPORT: Each figure of Guanyin has one hand reglued, also one of them has loss to the other hand. The cylindrical box has a few small areas of losses to enamel and some crazing. The cup is commensurate with age.

A 20th century Chinese Republic style baluster vase decorated with mountainous and architectural landscape with boats, and with artist colophon to the back with three seal marks, four character mark to base, height 25.5cm, and a further similar vase with coloured transfer decoration within two ornamental bands, marked to base, height 21cm (af) (2).

Lot 889

A 19th century Chinese porcelain vase of slightly tapering form with flared rim, painted in enamels with two opposing panels depicting garden scene with auspicious objects and with two panels to the neck, unmarked, height 26cm, with associated turned hardwood stand. CONDITION REPORT: There are a few major hairlines to the body, longest approx 13cm, also some minor areas of tiny losses to the paint, a chip to the rim.

Lot 898

A pair of 19th century Chinese baluster vases, painted in underglaze blue with architectural landscape, height 30cm, and a further vase painted with figural terrace scene within two decorative bands, height 25cm, all bearing Kangxi four character mark to bases (af) (3). CONDITION REPORT: One of vases from the pair has a chip to the flared rim and a hairline spreading from it, approx 6cm, the other has an imperfection underneath the rim. The single vase has a large reglued crack to the cylindrical rim and a major star hairline crack to the glaze to one side of the body.

Lot 905

A quantity of Chinese blue and white porcelain items to include a rice decorated bowl, diameter 20.5cm, a set of similarly decorated soy sauce bowls, a saucer painted in underglaze blue with architectural landscape, four character mark within double ring to base, a further similar plate, unmarked, and an 18th century example painted with a vase on stand surrounded with various objects, unmarked (af) (12). CONDITION REPORT: Some of the pieces have minor chips, mainly to the rim, and the 18th century plate has a major star crack visible both to base and top surface.

A Chinese light purple glazed vase with slender neck, mould decorated with a dragon amongst clouds and backs, double ring mark to base, height 16cm, a similarly glazed incense burner modelled as a shishi dog, width 12.5cm, a further turquoise glazed shishi dog censor with detachable cover, height 13.5cm and a mid 20th century turquoise glazed circular pot with impressed archaistic style seal mark to the base, diameter 12.5cm (4). CONDITION REPORT: Incense burner has chips to the bottom rim of the cover. Crudely glazed. See additional images.

Lot 909

A Chinese powder red glazed vase of slender baluster form with ribbed neck and flared rim and with crackle glazed base, height 20cm, a dark brown monochrome glazed garlic head vase, with Da Qing Qianlong Niangnhi mark underneath, c.1940s, height 19cm, a grey glazed bottle vase, with circled six character mark to base, height 16.5cm and a further vase decorated in enamels with phoenix amongst clouds and floral sprays, unmarked, height 19.5cm (af) (4). CONDITION REPORT: The vase decorated with phoenix has got a chip to the rim and a few hairlines spreading from the edge of it, general surface dirt and rubbing to the higher points. Grey glazed vase appears to have a chip to the inside of the base rim (could be a firing imperfection). Powder red glazed vase appears to be in good condition with wear and staining to the base. The garlic head vase also appears good with some tiny cracks/manufacturing imperfections to the edge of the upper rim.

Lot 914

A Chinese porcelain green monochrome glazed bottle vase, height 12.5cm, a similarly glazed double gourd example, a further double gourd orange glazed example, height 9cm, a pair of mid 20th century yellow glazed bottle vases with moulded floral decorated, marked to bases, height 13cm and two further vases (7). CONDITION REPORT: The green glazed bottle vase has two areas of chips to the rim and some imperfections to the base. The green double gourd also has a single chip to the rim with a small hairline spreading from it. The orange gourd example has a shallow chip to the glaze and a similar area to the inside to the base rim. One of the pair of vases has a small crack to the edge of the rim with a hairline spreading from it, the other is in good condition. Yellow vase painted with auspicious object has a reglued damage to the top of the neck. Miniature twin handled vase has some firing imperfections and staining to the surface.

Lot 918

A Chinese Peking red glass circular plate of plain form, a purple glass example, diameter 19cm, also a yellow glass vase painted with a sage surrounded by three boys with a table and a vase with scrolls in the background, four character mark to base, height 22.5cm and a white opaque glass figure of a woman, height 26.5cm (4). CONDITION REPORT: The purple glass plate has some nibbles to the edge of the rim, also surface scratches to the centre. The red glass example has a few nibbles but generally is in slightly better condition. The yellow glass vase appears to be intact. Figure of a woman is a bit wobbly and has a few nibbles to the edges, also some manufacturing imperfections and an area of rubbing to the front of her hand and a small chip to the front of the lower part of her robe.

Lot 924

A Chinese carved jade bi disc with textured sides, with two pierced opposing dragons amongst foliate scrolls above, diameter 8 cm, length 17 cm, also a carved soapstone spill vase decorated with climbing monkeys, length 22 cm (2).

Lot 1007

A Japanese Meiji period Shibayama decorated ivory tusk vase decorated with two birds perched on blossoming tree to one side and with flowers at the river to the other, with inset rectangular mother of pearl plaque with character marks, height 17cm (no bottom), on carved hardwood base. CONDITION REPORT: Areas of splits particularly to one side of the upper part. Some minor losses of the shibayama decoration. Other part appears to be good with a few areas of reglued decoration, one flower appears to have a chip. Wear to the lower rim with small split with dirt.

Lot 1023

A Japanese Meiji period bronze incense burner/vase modelled as a cockerel, height 15cm and a bronze white metal inlaid baluster vase on tapering foot decorated with Greek key ornament, with twin mask handles (rings missing), bearing an old label to the base with character handwriting, height 22cm (2). CONDITION REPORT: Cockerel has a broken leg but crudely reattached with a stud. Repair to foot rim of bronze vase. See additional images.

Lot 1024

A Japanese Meiji period cloisonné gold flecked vase decorated with floral sprays, height 25cm, and a 20th century Satsuma vase, eggshell tea ware, etc. CONDITION REPORT: Satsuma vase: badly cracked and in very poor condition. Cloisonné vase: some scratches but no major damage. Tea service is generally OK.

Lot 1031

Four pieces of Japanese Banko ware comprising two medicine pots, the larger height 8cm, a baluster vase painted with cranes amongst floral sprays, with impressed character mark to one side, height 9cm and a cylindrical pot and cover with spout to one side (4). CONDITION REPORT: Dirty but undamaged. Larger teapot has a loose finial.

A Japanese Satsuma porcelain vase of baluster form, painted with two opposing panels, one depicting three women and a boy, the other depicting a court scene, twin handles modelled as seated boys holding tassels, height 28cm including an associated turned wooden base.

Lot 1040

A Japanese Meiji period Satsuma vase of cylindrical form with flared foot and rim, hand painted with two opposing panels, one depicting a cockerel with chicks beside a bamboo tree, the other depicting two birds under blossoming prunus tree, with gilt heightened ornaments on a blue cobalt ground, with Kinkozan marks to the base, height 9cm, on associated carved hardwood stand. CONDITION REPORT: General condition appears to be good, areas of rubbing to the gilt and a shallow chip to the glaze to the lower part. Also a few manufacturing imperfections to the upper rim.

CONDITION REPORT: There are several areas of losses to the enamel paint particularly where the trees are, firing imperfections in the base area and a manufacturing imperfection to the base with two hairline cracks spreading from it.

A decorative porcelain vase of square tapering form with canted corners overall painted and gilt heightened with floral motifs, the fittings inscribed "Hinks & Son's Patent", on ornamental shaped square brass base, height 42cm, and a further decorative glass example of baluster form (2). CONDITION REPORT: Both in good condition. Glass lamp has scuff to lower section and chrome rubbed away to top section. Ceramic lamp has rubbed areas to the gilding.
