Paolo Antonio BARBIERI (attribué à) (Cento 1603-1649) Nature morte au vase de fleurs et corbeille de pommes, raisins, poires, melon, figues dans un paysage Huile sur toile (restaurations anciennes) 95 x 133 cm Paolo Antonio Barbieri est le frère de Giovanni Francesco Barbierin dit Le Guerchin, avec qui il travailla au sein du même atelier. C’est lui qui avait notamment la charge de tenir le Libro dei Conti qui répertorie les comptes et toutes la production des deux artistes, et qui permet aujourd’hui d’avoir une idée très précise du corpus du Guerchin. Cette collaboration permit néanmoins à Paolo Antonio de développer son propre style et de se spécialiser dans les nature mortes, dont une quarantaine sont aujourd’hui recensées grâce au Libre dei Conti, mais dont la production après 1649 reste encore difficile à définir. On retient plusieurs tableaux représentant des oiseaux de basse-cour dans les Å“uvres attribuées à Barbieri, et notamment dans les Å“uvres en collaboration avec son frère. Mais c’est surtout notre nature morte au vase de fleurs et corbeille de fruits qui s’inscrit parfaitement dans le travail de Barbieri, dont le foisonnement des fleurs et des fruits s’entremêle dans un style quelque peu hiératique. On peut par exemple mettre en parallèle notre Å“uvre avec la « Nature morte aux grenades et autres fruits dans un paysage », conservée au Metropolitan Museum (61,9 x 74 cm), dans laquelle on retrouve cet entrelacs de grappes de raisin et fruits sur fond de paysage.
